Well, nothing like searching *after* you post...I found allison's kitchen! Her island (or "your" island, Allison, if you read this) is French Gray with a black glaze.

Very, very nice.

The island has a black base glaze over it, so it's not the best thing to judge the color by. Oh, well....I see you posted that! lol

I have my powder, laundry, guest room and MBath painted French Gray. It's def. more green than gray. You should order/buy sample pots and see it in your lighting. It's brighter/different in the sun.

....I should have read your entire first post. We have wood floors in the guest room stained Dark Walnut. The color looks great with the floors. Trim/doors/windows are also stained dark (SW Walnut Wainscot - special mix, not off the shelf, but it is one of their stains).

I tried the French grey in my study. I had SW mix it for me. Sample on the wall looked good. I don't know if Allison's looks like mine, but it turned out really minty green. I didn't like it. The painter teased me that it looked like hospital scrubs. I ended up glazing it with a brown and it looks waaaaay better.

F&B paints are different and even if SW tries to match, it won't turn out right. Mine are not minty, but the MBath can be a tad brighter than I would have liked when the sun is shining in the windows (late afternoon).

Thanks, Allison and texas. Allison, those pics are just so delicious. What a fabulous through-composed vibe in your home. I have taken note that it works beautifully with dark woods. I am thinking that I might give Pigeon another look, though, since I want a darker mood in there. The basic color-tone is just right, though.

texas, unfortunately I agree w/allison, even from the little I know of F&B: color-matching just doesn't work--as with EK. YOu know what did always strike me as hospital scrubs, when I was in the wrong mood, though: BM Palladian Blue...I even would ask people when they visited if they thought that that part of our house looked like hospital scrubs LOL...I love the color, but it still always throws me for a bit of a loop that way!

Love the picture of the master bath - the pic looks dusky gray-green to me, not minty. I'm tempted to try getting some BM colors color-matched, but it makes me leery that they won't turn out properly. Alas, I don't know much about paint.

F&B paints are mixed w/ natural earth pigments (an old process that they still use today) & they have a beautiful livable feel no matter how intense or saturated the color may be. That's why you simply can't colormatch them.

Lovely paints - wish I had a stockist w/in a reasonable driving distance to me. But you can order samples from them & if I recall correctly also order gallons from them?

I'm toying with the idea of trying to get a sample of farrow and ball's pointing....but I'm afraid I'll like it then ;-) (no one sells it right close to me either)

I just painted my bedroom F&B Blue Gray. It definitely has some green in it. I was deciding between Blue Gray and Light Blue (I think that was the name)... had decided on Light Blue but then got myself confused and ordered the Blue Gray instead! So although it wasn't exactly what I had planned, I love the color.

sueb20, our exercise room is painted F&B Light Blue. It's pretty "blue" when the sun is shining since the window that looks out at the lake is over 130" wide. You made a good selection for your bedroom with the Blue Gray.

Anyway, sue, *thanks* for the picture of Blue Gray. It's gorgeous. I'm so drawn to this part of the spectrum, even though I don't like "blue" per se. The room is beautiful--both your and allison's pics look like they come from a beautiful book on color.

I am trying to figure out how I can get F&B to my house...in the meantime, I found a BM color, "storm cloud gray", that is in the same realm as Pigeon--darker than the French or Blue grays. I am still working on finding any kind of approximation for the lighter colors. I know BM isn't the same at all--I can tell just from the photos you all have supplied. It's such a small room--maybe I'll just figure out a way to have some F&B sent to me and it will be my splurge...you know, unlike the rest of the house LOL...

Allison, in a dimly lit room with little natural light, do you know how the French Grey would show? On my monitor, that lovely plate wall is fantastic and soft and perfect. THATS what I'm looking for for a bathroom.

That is a great color..I could see it in a small powder room for sure ..I would love to have a center island in that color to break up the darkness of all the cherry in my kitchen..

Allison, that picture was just what I was hoping for. I don't know how the color would translate in my bath, the lighting is so very strange in there and it completely skews things that 'should' work. I know, because I've splotched about 5 or 6 of my tried & true colors, plus a dozen others. I think I'm going to order a little sample jar. It goes against the grain to do that, since the paint is much more expensive than I like, but it may just be worth it.
