Anyone know how to do this without paying for the privilege?

hotmail and gmail are both free. I use both of them.

The way I read your post, I'm thinking that you want to find someone's email address. Often you can find a person by googling their email address, but I don't know how to find someone's email if you don't already know it.

If, it's how Marie answered your post, web-based email addresses are free, and they are what I use. Other ones come with your internet provider.

I was earlier thinking of outdoor plants for trade, but does anyone need any house plants? Granted my house plants are fairly common too, but they grow like crazy and I can't keep them contained except for the cacti and african violets. I have solid green spider plants (haven't seen real spiders for quite a while inside, coincidence?). Also have purple velvet plant, red veined fittonia, grape ivy (cissus), asparagus fern (plumosus). I threw about a dozen spider plant babies outside last week just for fun to use as ground cover annuals, contemplanting planting my big spider outside as it is taking over my bathroom and a real trick to keep watered. It's difficult, if not impossible, to delete a presence online. Even if you delete your user name, there's still going to be cached ghosts of your posts available via Google, and every post has every contributor's IP address for anyone to see. This kinda goes back to the online privacy thread a few weeks back. You either have to just deal with the lack of privacy once you go online or don't log on, ever. Because every single action is being tracked and linked back to your online identity in some form. If you enjoy the forum, I wouldn't leave over a friendly email. You can live your life wondering what if's or being paranoid that someone is stalking you or you can take reasonable precautions and continue to enjoy your interests. Ultimately it's your decision of course but I think you're overreacting and I would at least give yourself a couple of days before making that decision. I'd also ask him where he got your email because it could be something completely innocent that maybe you forgot about. Maybe you emailed someone else at some point and they passed on your email address. It could be anything but it's unlikely that it's malicious or sneaky in nature, especially if it was a thank you email.

Another way they get it is from people you think are friends who refuse to show you the respect of using BCC on bulk mailings. They're the best friends of spammers. Also the spammers just generate names as you can often see in lists. For instance once they get a name like janedoe@yourisp.com, they'll generate a list, i.e. jandoe, janedoe1, jdoe, doejane, etc and hope that some of them hit. There's also the spiders that search for names on forums and the like and use them for email attempts. Essentially free email promotes this.

Are you trying to find someone? Or get your own email?
I would like to know how to find someone elses email myself. I haven't had much luck with it. They all want $$. But if it's a email you need for yourself go to Yahoo.com, hotmail.com, gmail.com, aol.com or care2.com for a free account.

Sign up for free Google Gmail. I gave up ATT Email because it cost me $23 a month.

I want to get some else's email address. I have address,
phone number and fax number....but want to get their
email address. It's a business, a lawyer that I am
having a problem with and I want to document contacts.

Do a google on People Search a lot of sites will pop up You can get addresses age relatives tel numbers but I think you'll have to pay for the email addy.

They probably have an intnernet site.....and that probably has an email address. Do a search for Dewey, Cheatem and Howe Atty's at law....

I would call their office, and tell the phone gal, that you need the email address.

Whatever state the attorney is in should have a Bar web site. In California, it's http://www.calbar.org. You can do a search on a name and if the attorney and/or firm has an e-mail address it will usually be published there.

Do you have their business card or letterhead? It's usually on there. Otherwise, check the website or call and ask for it.
