You will need to find your BLFC (brine line flow control). There should be a sticker that is about 3/4" square that will read 0.125, 0.25 or 0.5 gpm. This will determine what the BF setting should be.

I can tell you right away that your capacity is too high. Actual working capacity will be determined by salt dosage.

Since you have dual tanks, set SF at 0.

Soft "feel" is subjective and depends on a number of factors. Trust the number, with a caveat - What method did you use to determine hardness? If you used a test strip, they are notoriously unreliable - get a better test. I recommend a Hach 5-B

Get back with the BLFC and I can help you with the rest of the proper setup. Also, if you know the specific resin in your softener, that will help.

Yeah I knew the system is over size so just trying to make it as efficient as possible. Only sticker I see was a 2.0gpm for drain line. But i'll check again. I did use Hach 5-B. Got a color changed on 9 drops.

I meant your capacity setting is too high, not that your softener is too big.

Hardness test: 9 drops to color change = 9 grains hardness. Was that before or after the softener?

Got it. BLFC is 0.5 gpm. 9 drop was before the softener. Now no drop is needed to change color, turns blue right alway.

I thought if I bought the 32,000 grain unit, I need to put 32,000 for the capacity?

Exit Master Programming Mode.

Pour 4 gallons of water into the brine tank. Add enough salt to cover the water. If you have very high humidity, maintain the salt at about this level and check it every couple of weeks. If your humidity isnâÂÂt high, after a few regens you can go ahead and fill the brine tank if you wish. You want to monitor water level for the first few regens just to ensure everything is functioning as it should. After that, just make sure you check periodically and keep salt in the tank.

Reset your clock to actual time.

At this point itâÂÂs a good idea to force the softener to step through the regen steps. There is no need to allow each step to complete. Just leave it in each step long enough to verify that the valve has changed position then move on to the next until you are back in service mode.

Enjoy your soft water.

Would the DO=20 be bad for the resin? Company said not to go over 14 days. And the brine tank has a bottom basket that is raise up on four leg, so only a little amount for salt is touching the water. Would BF=4 still be good?

Since you have a dual tank, there is no reason you can't go 20 days. Your system will regen more often than that based on water use anyway. The only time the DO will take over is if you have very low water use, away on vacation for instance, in which case there is no reason to waste water regenerating the softener.

The salt grid has perforated legs you will have salt:water contact. 4 minutes of brine fill will give you two gallons of water, which will dissolve 6 lb of salt, which is precisely what you want.
