Casey, do they always build the houses so close to the road??

Lydia these are summer homes (cottages) and the road is really just one lane, just a road to get to the homes.

But, yes, many houses in small communities in Newfoundland are built very close to the road. I think it came about before roads were used for cars but they kept the same roads and paved them and now they're the only roads in the towns and some homes are practically touching the roads. I wouldn't want to live like it but there isn't much traffic in small towns like that anyway.

Thanks Casey. Just seemed really odd to me since I've never seen single houses like that so close to a road here in the states.
