island trim on range and counter top/backsplash install?
Comments (1)I should have posted under the subject: How do I deal with the back splash of the range with the "island trim kit"?...See MoreCountertops higher than window sills?
Comments (17)My existing counter is higher than my (fully working) window by about 4 inches: with the Formica backsplash, the whole thing makes about a 8 inch well. The counter and backsplash just go straight across the wall, roughly cut out a little for the trim. If I took the sink cupboard out, I'd have a normal window and windowsill. I bet it's much more common than you realize, but you only notice it if someone does something conspicuous to call your attention to it. I honestly think you don't have to do anything cutesy. I definitely wouldn't be pouring water blind down the back of my sink unless I KNEW for sure where it was going. And fake ivy is just ... horrible. I stash my bottle of dish soap and a couple of other tall, inert objects down the back of the well. I'm planning on keeping it when I redo, just maybe with a little shelf atop the backsplash, but so I can still open the window. Nobody wants a sink down around their knees, or an extra couple thousand in unnecessary cabinetry. Just put everything where it needs to be. It'll be fine....See Morecounter height for stools higher than standard .. what size stool
Comments (26)I'm sure you'll be able to find what you are looking for. We got our stools at California Bar Stools--I think they just serve our local area (Bay Area), but they have several on their website that I think are similar to what you are looking for. There was a lot of choice in terms of the stain and the upholstery, if you can afford to go custom. We were even able to take home a few options to see how they looked (it totally helped!). Our counters are 37" and we got 26" stools. My husband commented tonight that he thinks they are the perfect size. Comments (24)I have had too many experiences of contractors or other professionals doing crappy work. Stopping payment on a check is the equivalent of not paying until the job is done satisfactorily--isnt that why we initially pay a deposit? I don't have a lot of experience with this stuff so I dont know what is standard and what I should expect--that's why I'm asking these questions here. I hire professionals assuming they know better than I do. But things didnt look right to me. Every web site I looked at indicated that the stove should be level with the counter, so I figured that was a standard any contractor should know. Same with the tile questions....See Moredianalo
