(That is the most wonderful oven cabinet I've ever seen, by the way.)

On my monitor it looks a little too minty. But what matters is if you like it. If not, can you use a few shades down from the color of your cabinets?

My monitor shows minty green instead of gray-green. It's not a bad look but I do see mint.

Would you want to try a lighter shade from the fan-deck card that has the Rosemary Sprig on it? I definitely see gray in that color.

Agree with prill. Too minty on my moni tor as well--not gray, and doesn't set off the cabs properly. But it's your kitchen--if you like it, keep it.

Glaze would definitely tone it down if you think that it is too minty. Here is an example of how much the color changed with two pieces of mine.

Cabinet with Williamsburg paints "Dressing Room blue" which is a greenish-blue aqua color:

Here is sideboard that has the exact same color on the side drawers, but with a single coat of a mocha glaze over top.

In person the sideboard drawers are green looking- the glaze pretty much cuts the blue out of the color.

Honestly I don't like it...I think your cabinets are great and the wall color doesn't seem to get along with them. Don't despair. If a paint change is all you have to do then you're in better shape than many people finishing up theirkitchens.

I agree that the important thing is how you feel about it. It sounds to me like you hate it and are hoping we'll talk you out of it. But the time to fix it is now, rather than in 3 months when you just can't stand it any more.

On my monitor, in your photo--both of which can add inaccuracies--the wall color is too minty. I think the problem may be too much of a blue under tone. One thing to do is check the walls against your sample. They may have entered the formula wrong when they were mixing the paint.

Do you have a sample of the glazed oven cabinetry you can take to the paint store? Maybe do a computer match then use that as a tint? Like 5-25% cabinet color, in mixing white, or base white.

An alternative would be to go a little grayer and do one more like the smaller inset tiles on your backsplash. But that might be too blue, too.

But I think you're right that the glaze might do it. Might not. But if you glaze the wall, will the texture be too glossy?

I agree with pillog - I think the color is pretty, I have something similar, but it is not the same green as your cabinets. The wall is tending blue, the cabinets tending yellow.

Okay, I'm the first to admit that I'd don't know diddly about kitchen/interior design, but I'm going to throw this out there anyway.

My monitor also reads minty but I agree with the other posters: it YOU like it, keep it.

I think glazing may also be an option. LOVE Amberly's sideboard.

Looking at your countertop and tile I see earthtones. Maybe try a color somewhere in the middle of your earthtones and your fab oven cab? Not sure if it will give you the same result as glazing or not but just a thought...

I love the minty green color.

has a great point about earth tones.

Plllog. . .I think you hit the nail on the head--while it is a pretty color, it wasn't what I had in mind and I really don't like it. . .just needed some confirming opinions. My first thought when I saw it was it wasn't the right color. . .but, it matches the 8 x 8 paper swatch and the dab on the can. . .I'm wondering if it's the red in the floors that are making it funky?

I may try play around with the glaze. Amberley, love your your sideboard--it's absolutely beautiful!!

I'm thinking something with the Rosemary Sprig or a creamy,taupey tan (is there such a thing?). I think maybe I'll also look at some soft yellows.

Thanks for the compliments on the cabs. I really love the oven cab too and think the desk area will be equally pretty once I can get the wall color right. I'm really proud of the hardware. . .it's the original antique brass hardware that I cleaned and painted copper/ORB.

I think it does look minty. I LOVE your cabinets and I think the wall colors fights a little with the cabinet color. :( But wall color is easy to change :)

I don't think this is the right color and I don't see green gray as the answer. How about a green brown? It would bring together the cabinets and backsplash in my opinion.

I already posted this answer in Home Dec, but thought I'd add it here just in case you didn't see it..

I've been playing w/ Rosemary Sprig mixed in different proportions w/ white (for my future kitchen remodel). I think I'm going w/ a 3:1 (R Sprig:wht) mix for the walls and then do my island in full strength R. Sprig w/ (tentatively) Van Dyke Brown glaze. Lower cabs will be stained (a med. brown) and uppers painted a creamy white (SW Antique White)--at least that's my plan so far :-)

The color chip dilly dally posted for R Sprig looks very brownish on my monitor, but does not read that way at all on my posterboard size sample...and the lightened version that I mixed is def. still green, but w/out the mintiness that seemed to occur when I tried just going up the color card to the Soft Fern. HTH

I still can't believe there is that much difference in what it looks like on the 8 x 8, the dab on the can and the walls. . . but (as my sons say) it is what it is. I agree with most of you that it needs to have a little more brown in it.
