Tami, Sounds like a nice dinner. But you probably don't need to worry about whether the food is soft enough. Is a cap the same as a "Crown". I've never had a problem eating after having a tooth capped/crowned.

Ann, yes, it probably is the same as a crown. As he is having it done as I type, and it's already a bit after 4, he'll probably still be a little numb, when I finally get it finished, so I don't want anything that he has to chew a lot. As long as the chicken is tender the rest will be fine!

Tami, I agree, the supper sounds yummy. Like Ann T, I've had a crown (or several, I grind my teeth), and I've not usually had trouble eating afterward, at least not after the anesthetic wears off.

If he's getting a temporary, though, those can be problematic, the darned things always come off when I get them and you have to wait for the permanent one to come back from the lab or where ever it is they are making it.

I have chewed the inside of my cheek into a nasty sore....because I ate after getting a tooth crowned!!, While I was numb!
But having the crown set usually doesn't involve novacain, it's the prep that does,,,,and that results in a temporary....which can't take much chewing.
The wild rice casserole sounds wonderful....I love the stuff!!

The novacaine, or whatever they use on him doesn't usually last too long. In fact, they have to give him extra. It doesn't work on DD at all. I don't know if he's getting temp or the actual cap today. He didn't say. All I can smell is wild rice!

Annie if your temp crown comes off before your next appt you can coat the inside of the temp crown w/toothpaste and put it back on.It will only go on one way.The fluoride in the toothpaste will also help w/sensitivity.Avoid chewing on that side as much as possble.

Thanks, Shelley. When my temp crown comes off I walk right across the street to my dentist, we were kids together, and tell him he's a quack, he needs to fix it right before I get out the crazy glue.

That usually works, but I'm glad to know about the toothpaste trick in case of weekends when I can't find him!

Campbell's Cheesy Chicken & Rice

Prep: 5 min. Bake: 45 min.

1 Can (10 3/4 oz.) Cream of Chicken Soup
1 1/3 c. water
3/4 c. uncooked long grain white rice
2 c. fresh or frozen vegetables
1/2 t. onion powder
4 Skinless,boneless chicken breast halves
1/2 c. reduced fat shredded Cheddar cheese.

1. Stir soup, water, rice, vegetables, and onion powder in 12" x 8" shallow baking dish.

2. Top wit chicken. Season chicken as desired. Cover.

3. Bake at 375° F. for 45 min. or until done. Top with cheese. Makes 4 servings.

I made some wild rice and added that to it in addition to everything else. It was really good. I need to remember to make it in two foil pans next time. It's too much for just the two of us. DS is rarely home for dinner. We'll probably have the left overs tomorrow night, as I will be gone all day.

We had meatloaf tonight! With mashed potatoes and gravy, and some wild rice mixed with green beans, salt & pepper.

No problems with the tooth. DH is doing fine. By the time I had dinner ready, he was no longer numb.
