I make just about everything you can bake in a regular oven in my crock-pot SJ ;0)

I make killer meatloaf, roast, beans, chicken & dressing, soup......it's really great during the summer because I don't have to heat up my little kitchen.

I always just throw a roast type meat in and make sure I add enough water to cover it, add 1 pkg of lipton onion soup, stir, leave it on low, and leave for work at 5 am.
When i come home at 2-3, I add a pkg of frozen mixed veggies, and have a wonderful dinner by 5. Add a bread or salad, and it is wonderful. You can also add any veggies you have in the fridge to the pot, or canned and it is wonderful.
I try anything in the crock. if i mess it up, the dog has an awesome menu for the next week.

I put chicken pieces, either fresh or frozen in the crock pot, add a small to medium bottle of barbecue sauce and a little bit of garlic powder and pepper. I put it on in the morning and by supper it's ready to eat and very tasty.

I use frozen chicken breasts.

I have trouble finding great recipes for the crockpot. Sure, you can cook anything in it, but will it be good? My slowcooker cooks things too fast to leave it all day so I generally use it after work to make something for the next night.

I am going to go check out those links. My afternoons/evenings are so crazy w/ kids' homework and activities and generally the chaos they cause I really don't have time to stand at the stove at that time. I love to use the crock pot, but don't as much as I'd like.

Meanwhile, I make these chicken drummettes in the crock pot that everyone in my house likes.
3 lbs. chicken drummettes
1 tsp salt
1 tsp. black pepper
1/2 c. honey
1/2 c. BBQ sauce
2 Tbs. spicy brown mustard
1 clove garlic
3-4 lemon slices
Salt & pepper the drummettes and broil for 5 mins. Mix the honey, BBQ, mustard and garlic. Put drummettes in crock, cover w/sauce, top w/lemon slices. Cook on low 6-7 hours. Meat falls off the bone like really good ribs.

Also:
Spicy Sweet & Sour Cocktail Franks
2 pkgs. cocktail franks
1/2 c. ketchup or chili sauce
1/2 c. apricot preserves
1 tsp. hot pepper sauce.
Combine in crock, cook on low 2-3 hours.

BBQ Pork
3-4 lbs. boneless pork shoulder
salt, pepper
bbq sauce
Cover crock bottom w/ water. Pork in, salt/pepper it. Cook low 8-10 hours. Remove meat, let stand 15 mins. Discard liquid. Shred pork w/fork, mix in sauce, return to slow cooker 30 mins. on high.

Sometimes I do that pork overnight on a Friday, right before I go to bed, and we have it for lunch sandwiches for the weekend.

I make these quite often - you can use pork, beef, chicken. I always use pork though.

Shredded Pork Tacos
Whatever kind of meat you want to use
1 cup salsa
1 can diced green chilis
Sprinkle of garlic powder

Mix the salsa, green chilis and garlic powder together and pour over meat.

Cook on low all day. Shred meat and mix together and it's ready to go. My family loves this. It is so good and super easy.

I just tried this one recently and it was wonderful!

MrsMoÂs Crockpot Italian Chicken

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 envelope good seasons Italian dressing
mix 1/2 c. water
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms pieces and stems, drained

Place chicken in bottom of crockpot. Combine salad dressing mix and water. Pour over chicken and cook on low for 3 hours. Mix soup and cream cheese and mushrooms. Pour over chicken and cook one more hour or until chicken is done. Serve over rice or pasta. Several people responded that they had used fat free products with good results.

*I used fresh mushrooms and added garlic and diced onions

One of my favs -

CROCKPOT FRENCH DIP ROAST

1 large onion, quartered and sliced
1 beef bottom round roast (about 3 lbs.)
1/2 c. dry white wine or water
1 pkg. (3/4 oz) au jus gravy mix
1/8 tsp. seasoned pepper

Place onion in crockpot. Trim excess fat from roast. Cut meat in half if needed to fit in crock pot. Place meat in crock pot over onions. In a small bowl, combine wine (or water), au jus mix and pepper until blended. Pour over roast. Cover and cook on high for 6 hours or on low for 12 hours (until very tender). Remove meat from liquid. Let stand 5 minutes before thinly slicing across grain. Strain broth, if desired; taste for salt. Serve with hard french rolls for sandwiches... use liquid for dipping.

Sometimes I fix it like an open faced sandwich and then sprinkle mozzerella cheese over it and broil for a few minutes.

Be sure to try Paula's Peasant Goulash. It's wonderful.

Here's an easy dish that DH and I really like.

We prefer fluffy dumplings, so I use the Bisquick recipe on the box instead of canned biscuits.

seems like i got this recipe here and just made it in crock pot rather than oven. You can use any vegitables, any kind of meat, any cream soup, and the golden mushroom dried soup is the best. I think it is the combination of ginger ale and dried soup mix that makes it taste so good.

No Peek Casserole
2 lbs stew meat ( i use 3 lbs)
1 can Campbell's Chicken Mushroom Soup
1/2 cup Ginger ale
1 pkg Lipton Onion Soup Mix
1 4 oz jar mushrooms, drained (optional)
Preheat oven to 300. Combine ALL ingredients (DO NOT brown meat and DO NOT dilute soup with water) together. Mix well. It will be lumpy before it's cooked. Pour into a casserole dish and cover. Bake 2 1/2 to 3 hours. DON'T PEEK!! Serve over pasta, rice or mashed potato's. The smell as it's cooking is WONDERFUL

Or: any kind of meat, any vegetables you want. Keep the ratio the same on the cream soup (any kind you want), onion soup mix (I use golden onion and itÂs great), and the ginger ale. Dump it all in a crock pot on low for about 5 to 8 hours. Makes any cut of meat tender and the gravy is wonderfulÂbut not enough of it.

I have the problem that my crockpot cooks too fast--we don't eat supper until 7:30 or so, so that's too long, esp. since we leave the house at 7:30 am.

And, the last several times I tried making dinner in the crockpot--a new one--everyone in the family had gastrointestinal discomfort and problems shortly after.

So I've sort of given up on my crockpot for making actual meals in advance.

The new crockpot has a plastic lid, AND the design of the lid means that the condensation slides down the lid onto the lip, and then the lid floats on a puddle of water, which makes me wonder if the temperature isn't being kept at the right level because there's not a good seal.

(Plus, no one in my family will eat the sort of stuff that you cook in the crockpot--roasts, etc.)

I use it to keep sloppy joes or chili warm when we take it to Cub Scouts or youth group; we'll use it to keep sloppy joes warm at the open house we're having next weekend.

I am going to save this thread I got to thinking I never cook when I am home....I have to much to do with the house yard and kids.....but I could break out my crockpot and we could have some super meals...Stacy

Split pea or bean soup.

This makes alot....I froze the left overs in sandwich size baggies and pop them out of the freezer for lunches or another quick dinner. It's sooo good and easy!

Crockpot Pulled Pork

INGREDIENTS:
pork shoulder roast, about 4 pounds
2 medium onions, thinly sliced
1 1/2 cups water
1 bottle (16 ounces) barbecue sauce, or 2 cups homemade sauce
1 cup chopped onion
PREPARATION:
Place half of the thinly sliced onions in bottom of slow cooker; add pork and water, along with remaining onion slices. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours or 4 to 5 hours on HIGH heat setting. Drain liquid from slow cooker; place meat back in cooker.
Add barbecue sauce and chopped onion. Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 6 hours longer. Stir occasionally. Serve with warm split buns and coleslaw.
Serves 8 to 10.
