leach field advice

We have been dealing with a nice black 'puddle' in our front yard since the beginning of last spring. The leaking is at an elbow from the d-box to the leach field. We have had several people look at it, poke a rod in the leach field and tell us we need a new leach field for $10,000. You can read my post from last year.

Summer 2009 we found a guy that suggested a terralift for $2000 and a 10 year warranty. It did clear the leaking for the rest of the summer, but now it is back. We are not holding out much hope for the warranty since it took 3 months of calling just to get a reciept from the guy.

So, as stupid as it might sound, this is our plan...We are quiting.

We can't get anyone reputable out to look at it. We have no place for a new field and we don't have $10,000. We haven't had any problems in the house, so we are done. What we figure is that the man who previously owned our house went crazy with a backhoe and now there is only a few inches of soil on top of the field in that area. So I am going to mound dirt on top and have a nice lush flower bed and we will just deal with it when it is a huge problem that we can't avoid.

Any suggestions? Because we are frustrated. Will take any septic suggestions or flower suggestions!
