Noah's Ark

I don't usually think of anything to post, but will tell you all this little story. We have been north for a couple of weeks and on the way home stopped for breakfast at "Heaven on Earth" restaurant. About the time ours was served there was much excitement and rushing around and arranging of tables and the folks there said that...and unusual happening was about to happen. A bus with 34 nuns were arriving on Noah's Ark to check out Heaven on Earth while on their way to Ashland. Thirty -four Nuns, disembarked in civilian dress and joined us. Noah's Ark is a tour buss line from Portland, I believe. Fun!

Oh, that is so darned cute. I hope you all had a nice meal. Were they traveling to see a play in Ashland? We're driving through there soon and I'd love to hear whether the restaurant is worth a stop.

Dear Carol, I know that Provo Craft made some Noah's ark stickers that would work great. Provo Craft sells mainly scrabook stickers to the best of my knowledge. They can be found online or Micheal's, or Hobby Lobby or any Scrapbook store. Hallmark stores also carry some scrapbook supplies, but the last I heard they are not carrying as many as they used to. There are a lot of scrapbook pages featuring Noah's ark or animals that would look nice in your album and as a last resort you could purchase a SMALL child's coloring book and trace the images off of there to make paper piecing. Go to the www.gracefulbee.com and www.dmarie for lots of helpful hints on what to buy first and how to get started. My first step would be to suggest a class if they are available in your area. DON"T get stuck with only one supplier!!!! There is just TOO MUCH to offer in the way of scrapbook supplies to be limited to one kind of supplies. Yes...a very nice meal. It is a nice restaurant and bakery. It is an old looking building, have no idea what it might have been years ago, the interior is not so old looking. The bakery is wonderful...cinnamon rolls as big as cakes,cookies, cakes, pies.... all looks wonderful. They also make Apple Butter and jams etc. It is a very nice stop. Exit 89 on Interstate 5.

In Oregon? I can't find Exit 89 on I-5. Would this be near Medford or Grants Pass?

Oops, sorry....Quines Creek, Exit 86.on the I 5 in Oregon...between 7 Feathers and Grants Pass. It looks like an old 2 story Farm house and out buildings, but well marked on the highway.

Heaven on Earth? Sounds like good food! And, in the long run, we're ALL on our way to "Ashland" -- "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust..."! :)

He posted a rather relevant story on a different thread ...

The other day at the old guys' coffee hour at church, where one more-or-less/rather retired (but scarcely "retiring") clergyperson/counsellor/whatever often brings funny stories and pics from his emails ...

... came one with a story about the demise of the dinosaurs.

There's a colourful pic of a couple of dinos sitting on a small remaining clump of land ... with an ark in the near distance ... and it's raining heavily (I'll forebear claiming that it's cats and dogs).

One dino looks to t'other and says, "Shi!!" Was that today?"

I sprung for the 15 cents to make a colour copy here at the library ...

... and took it to pass around judiciously to a rather restricted clientele at coffee hour at the other church. (Ive Mae enjoyed it - or gave an impression of having done so, at least).

Nope, I just didn't see it 'til now, OJ. :) That is a very cute joke. I cut one out of the paper ("Rhymes With Orange" I believe,) a few years ago that puts me in stitches every time I see it: Three hens are sitting on nests in front of a wall. On the wall behind one of the hens is a splattered egg. Her neighbor hen says, "Gesundheit." Hilarious.

They put on a dinner at church the other night for a family having health problems, and, Canada recently having decided to give pennies the boot, it was announced in the church bulletin (and aloud) that since pennies are to become extinct soon, the folks could bring theirs in to contribute to the fund.

As our minister's name is Matthew Penny, I allowed to his wife on Sunday morning after church that, for her sake as well as for the church's, I hoped that that penny wasn't to become extinct, as well.

...

She agreed.
