Don't beat yourself up. The storm sounds really terrible, and you would have been a nervous wreck trying to drive in it at night. I hate weather like that too.

I'm sorry Trin, the storm is awful here too, you would not be able to drive in it. I'm about 60 miles north of Dallas and as brave as I am I wouldn't drive in this mess either. I actually thought I heard a roaring sound just a few minutes ago, luckily it's just the rain. You are right to stay where you are!!

I just thought I'd come back and ask . . . Is it possible he could wait in the airport a couple of hours till the storm passes and you come get him? I don't know what your forecast is or if that's even feasible, and I know it wouldn't be very pleasant for him, but it the cab will really be super expensive, it might be an alternative to consider.

I was really upset, I hate when I am not where I am supposed to be, or have promised I would be. I don't like letting people down like that.
Thank goodness the storm stopped me. Now I find that their flight has been diverted to Oklahoma City. No idea on their ETA. I have to go to work at 5 am....but have left a message on his phone to call me when he gets to DFW.
It was an unusual storm tonite, not as violent as some but really long in duration. probably 3 hours or better. My neighborhood is trashed. It's dark now so I will check on damage control in the morning.

Thanks for being there, I feel better, but it is going to be a loooong nite.

Long night here too, it's still windy as all get out here. We just put a new metal roof on so I'm sitting here like a dope hoping it doesn't hail lol.

You might want to call in late in the morning Trin, who knows what the streets are going to look like in daylight.

Hey, if the storm is that bad, he's likely not at the airport yet - his plane won't land in really bad weather. They will circle the town for awhile until the thunderhead passes, and then there are probabily a bunch of planes in a holding pattern waiting their turn to land. A 1 to 2 hour delay is not unusual.

I can only imagine the DFW airport tonite is going to be a zoo.
I live on the top of a hill, so every way out of my "hood" is flooded. IF I can get out of here, the storms have stopped, so I can probably get there ok.

Well it seems to have played itself out every thing has calmed down a bit - I can still hear the wind but it's not as strong and the rain has eased up a bit.

OMGosh, I hadn't even thought about the zoo aspect lol. I bet you can't even get a phone call through to them to find out an ETA...good luck with that lol.

It rained buckets here during the night. 2 1/2 inches in the rain gauge.

The storm that went through was HUGE, and I see, it came up from Texas. Bet it was your storm Trin.

I got him home about 3:30 am. I just woke up. I will be off to work shortly. I feel like I've been drug through a knot hole. Oh well, everybody is safe and at home. By the time he got here, he had seen the airports in Redding Calfornia, Portland Oregon, Denver Colorado, Oklahoma City Oklahoma, and Fort Worth Texas. I am pretty sure he is not going into the office today. Poor Guy.
I hope you all made it through the storms ok.

It's better not to try and drive in that kind of weather and stay safe. Had you gone, you could have had an accident and not gotten there at all. As it was, he wasn't able to be there and you'd have been waiting/wondering.
Get some rest when you get home. I'm glad he did get home okay.

I have just put chicken in the electric skillet to fry. Flour coated, just like my mom used to make it. Corn on the cob and mashed tatoes. I am exhausted, and need some comfort food to see me through survivor. I worked all day and then went to the store after for groceries. I have had no food in the house since our electricity was out, and then I got a new fridge, but with DH gone all week, I saw no point in shopping and stocking the new fridge. This time of year in Texas, I can't trust the electricity staying on for all the storms, and I have thrown enough food out to feed an orphanage this month already. I hate that. A lot of condiment type food, but things that have to be replaced.
i will surely sleep like a baby tonite. I missed last weeks survivor, no electricity, so I really look forward to it tonite.
I just snuck a peek in the living room and DH is out like a light.
Poor guy.

Glad it all turned out all right. I hate driving in bad weather. Last summer I had to drive my daughter to court for her DWI Hearing, and I drove thru such bad rain storms, the streets were flooded and the next day the paper said there was a tornado in the same town.
