Thanks so much for the help! See .. I thought feeding all of those cats out of one big feeder is very wrong too. Thanks for validating one of my concerns. We have the five dogs and there is no way I'd feed them out of one big dish, they all have their own dishes and a few their own eating areas due to when they were strays it caused food aggression issues with other dogs ( not people ). If left to their own being fed out of a large dish, the food aggression dogs would drive the others out and fights would ensue to regain the bowl .. basically everything that's happening to this cat. So, I do blame the people for not getting involved on her behalf. She's an adult cat, my DH ( who had cats as a child ) thinks she's maybe 6 - 8 years old ?? I think right now I'm going to try to get her back into shape, she's eating for me and she seems very content to hang out down here now. As we sat on the porch last night, she hung out on my DH's lap and soaked up the attention. We live in NC and it's been one of the hardest states hit by unemployment, the papers are filled with people giving away their animals. The rescues and humane socities are also filled .. we went through the whole thing with trying to find Daisy ( the Basset my DHbrought home last year ) a home or into rescue and never could, so we just kept her. I'm also going to call and talk to our vet about a dewormer for her, they'll be able to give me an idea how much it would run and if they need to see her first. They are pretty good about giving us a break when the animal is a stray, they did with Daisy and her whole heart worm treatment. I've never heard of Hipotomic.......but it must be a name used in your location (Egypt). It sounds like your cat is very sick and I think he needs to be in the hospital so he can receive IV fluids, meds and nutrition. The fact he is not eating could also lead to Hepatic Lipidosis......another reason he should be under hospital care. Is the vet giving him anything for pain? I know you're trying to do your best in treating him, but I'm concerned about your statement 'I got him to eat after struggling'. Pets can easily aspirate when they are force fed so ask the vet to also check for any inflammation in the lungs and throat. If your vet doesn't have a lot of experience with cats, have him consult with another vet.

I am going to take him to the vet as soon as I can, even though the slobbering is only when feeding or petting. He needs a thorough checkup anyway. I just hate the terrorizing affect on him. When I was taking him to get fixed he went crazy, I was afraid that he was going to hurt himself. He pulled so hard on the door of the carrier that he bent it. He was trying to bite through it also. I wish I could give him some sort of sedative before putting him in the box. I have some Metacam Suspension that I bought from them in case of pain. Would that settle him down? I never gave him any since he seemed to be OK, just really scared of me for about 1 day. He will not go in his house or any confined space since that tragic day.

This is an old thread but I guess I will reply to it. I'm having the same issue with my male ragdoll cat, 11yrs old. All of a sudden he stopped eating and drinking but also kept licking his lips occasionally. I also noticed him being sick quite a bit (yellow liquid with froth) He usually loves lic e lix treats which is yogurt consistency and usually licks it up within seconds but would not have that either. Took him to the vet yesterday, I said I thought it might be a hairball stuck or something but the Nurse felt around the tummy slowly going along and said she can't feel a blockage. Temperature was ok and told me might have picked up a bug although he never gets outside. She gave him an injection and told me if he didn't eat or drink by the morning then to ring up may need bloods doing. Next morning (today) still not eaten or drank water so they told me to bring him in for blood tests. They phoned me about an hour ago saying the tests were pretty boring really, they all came back ok. He has been on a drip for today and told me he can go home today with the canula in his leg and if he eats nothing today again he goes back on drip for another day tomorrow. So this is where I am at with my cat right now, have to pick him up in an hour. I am hoping he eats and he won't have to go back in to stay tomorrow. I just thought I'd write this because others seem to have the same issues. It doesn't help you feel better though when you search the web thinking it could be the worst.
