Okay. NOW What?

Hubby hasn't felt good.

Cough, congestion and in the past few days, a fever and body aches. His cough is so deep it hurts to hear it. I can imagine how it hurts to actually cough.

He's been poking along, refusing any and all nursing or items to make him feel better (Tylenol...*snort*... can you imagine dealing with a man who is obvious hurting, all over, tell you, 'Those don't work for ME' or decongestants to loosen the mucus. Again, there is something really wrong with his chemical makeup that the most basic of medicines DON'T work for him) and now he is really sick. A temperature of 101.1 sick.

He came home from work, FINALLY took some tylenol and asked me to get him into an urgent care facility. He looks awful so yes, I did and not once did think or say "I told you so."

Now we have some hydrocodiene cough syrup, some steroids, a high powered antibiotic and bolus' for the nebulizer. A treatment at the clinic and time for the tylenol to kick in helped a little but he's still sick. He shook and shuddered all the way home, wearing his coat and mine. Digger did most of the chores but he refuses to let one of the neighbors feed the cows. Not only that, he refuses to take tomorrow off from work.

Is there a drug that reduces testosterone?

The guy can't hardly hold his aching head up; at 2 degrees below zero (low) and 29 degrees above (the high) breathing is painful at best. He needs to be in a clean air environment. That means no wood stove burning, no hay or no coal dust.

Will he stay home tomorrow?

Want to lay odds on this one?

Either way I am going into work because I know what is going to happen. For one thing, the cough syrup is going to make him drowsy and he won't 'like that' and quit taking it. Then he'll take one antibiotic and steroid tonight and tomorrow, at five am, announce 'those worthless pills aren't working'.

*sigh*

I almost wish the urgent care doc had put him in the hospital. They have people there, you know, who know how to take care of guys like my hubby.

Remember the time, a few years ago, when he got hit in the face with a powder river gate and it split open his forehead and blacked both eyes and refused, when all I could find, to take Pamprin?

Again...*sigh*

At least when my kids were little I could hold their nose closed, making them open their mouth to breath and then slip in the medication. Or, if all else fails, throw a leg over them ....
