I didn't see the show tonight, but just read about the results. Like you said, no surprise. How did the judges react to the eliminations?

On YouTube, I watched the Naima/Jacob and Lauren/Scotty duets. Naima and Jacob were good, but I loved Lauren and Scotty!

I enjoyed last nights show. I'm an Elton John fan......so many good songs. I didn't understand the praise heaped on Lauren for "Candle in the Wind." Maybe it was that she was able to pull off a ballad. But I didn't think she did an exceptional job, and she broke into a smile several times in what is basically a sad song.

Once again, I thought Haley was super. That girl has so much musicality, and her stage presence really came through last night. Pia was impressive, as always. Loved James!

Glad Casey's health seems to be holding up.

I was good with the choices tonight.

I can't stand Hayley! She sings through her teeth and I can't understand 90% of what she's singing. I don't know why she isn't gone yet. She will never make it to the end though. I think this years winner will be Pia. But James is my favourite to win. Either way, he's got a contract when he's done. We will be hearing a lot from him.

The one I can't stand is Scotty. He's such a one trick horse, and I'm not a country music fan. But there's something fake about him, he really bugs me. I really like Paul, although he will never win and has a weakish voice. But I love the rasp. He's very indie like, and I love indie college music.

I like quite a few of them, Scotty, Lauren, James, Haley. I voted on-line night before last for all of them at least once, including Thia (who's voice I like, just wished she sang louder and did some other type of song). I voted several times for Lauren. Pia sings perfectly all the time but she doesn't seem to have much of a personality like some of the others do and she sounds like a lot of other singers, voice isn't unique. I would never be able to listen to her on the radio and know it was her.

If Lauren doesn't win I hope either James or Scotty does. There seems to be something fake about Casey and all that drama last week. I don't like Paul at all, I'm one of those people who don't get it. Wish he had left instead of Thia.

I'm going to miss next week, going on vacation but have it DVR'd. Can't wait to see them sing again. I'm ok with the two that left even though I wanted to hear Thia do something else and stay a little longer. I didn't really expect her to win.

This is the first year I think I'd like seeing the group that tours in the summer. They are almost all really good singers.

Casey has been very ill since the beginning he has been in the hospital numerous times and has had many blood transfusions he suffers from Ulcerative colitis. That is why the doctor took him in to lie down last week after all the stress he had just endured.
I love his voice I would buy his music, can not wait till he starts doing more with instruments, he has great skill with many instruments. So glad they saved him.

I thought last night went right, Naima shot her chances when she put on the fake voice and did the reggae song.
Thia is a doll and has a great voice but she is young, she can come back in a few years and really blow them away.

Thought letting the guys in the "band" do a song was brilliant.
Scotty and Lauren need to do a duet song to release they sound good together.
I keep hoping they would let Paul do some more Rod Stewart he has the perfect voice for that, he is one of those very unique voices like Rod and Bob Dylan.

Always remember, the show does what they want--the votes mean nothing more than a general opinion poll (there's a disclaimer to that fact at the end of the show, as a matter of fact).

I've watched the show since the beginning, and it's obvious that often they stick someone popular, who the producers like in the bottom three, just to create a 'buzz'. It is Fox, after all--just take it for what it is--pure entertainment, NOT a show where YOU are actually picking the winner. Note, I'm not saying the votes are totally unimportant--the producers use them to find out who the public likes, but they learned early on about picking a winner who is difficult to work with--they won't let anyone win who isn't going to toe the contractual line.

Paul--Love him, but he's not there to win, just to promote his band. He's pretty much said that--so there's no way, the show is going to waste the top spot on him. Although, he does have one of the most interesting and unique voices I've heard in a long time. He'll go far--he's already gotten what he entered for--name recognition.

Pia is so talented, but she's vastly over-trained (she went to the performing arts high school, as you know)--to the point where she is all technical perfection and NO personality. It's annoying, sometimes to watch her sing, with her practiced hand gestures. Nothing natural about her. Don't think she's got a shot.

I do like Scotty--his voice is so mature for a child, and he's finding a way to stay true to his roots and talent week after week. Don't think he'll win, but he'll be around for a lot longer.

Casey's wonderful, but with his health problems, he hasn't a shot of winning--the producers aren't going to pin the responsibility of heading months worth of concerts on someone who may miss half of them for health reasons. And he hasn't been growing the past few weeks.

Having a mental block here--the kid with tourette's? He's great--even though he's a rocker, he actually has a very, very good singing voice.

Haley? There's a part of me that doesn't want to like her, and yet, I almost always find myself fascinated by her performances. She's definitely a unique specimen, isn't she?

Lauren is okay. Good voice, but just a little too immature in a lot of ways for this year. It's a little sad that they opened the tryouts up to 15 year olds, because most of them simply aren't seasoned enough. At least the ones they found.

Don't care for Jacob's off-key singing. Antonio annoys me--all he went through after being the victim of a drunk driver, then to be picked up for a DUI the next year? I really hope he doesn't win, for that reason alone (and he's not up with some of the others.

I'm sure that Idol has the right to dismiss contestants in the event they were to do something illegal or something against the show rules... but I still do believe that the public votes count in the weekly eliminations.
