pegboard drawers for plates, etc.

I would love feedback about pegboard systems which have a dowel or dowel-like bumper system attached to the drawer bottom to subdivide large lower drawers to prevent the dishes from sliding around. I am considering putting china into two of my drawers.

Is there an alternative that is better?

Do you have to pad the pegs for safety for the dishes anyway?

If you have a pegboard system, are you satisfied?

What is the brand you are using? How did you access info when making choice to use it?

We never went with pegboard, we just lined the drawers with a piece of thin waffle-weave type of rug padding. It's about 1/8" thick and works great for plates/bowls, etc.

Our base drawers are 28" deep, the pad completely eliminates and and all sliding, even in utensil drawers and pot/pan and lid drawers.

We first used the rug pad as a stop-gap measure because we had some on hand. However it works so well that after 10+ years, it's still there.

I ordered this for one of my drawers, but the wrong thing was put in, so still waiting for the right organizer. mongoct's idea sounds like a very good idea. My daughter has the peg system and loves it, that is why I ordered it in one of my drawers. She puts everyday dishes in hers and in 5 years has not found the need to pad it.

I would only put them in a few drawers initially. Later, if you find you could use more drawers with that kind of divider, it seems you could retro-fit the drawers. I was planning on adding dividers to my dish drawer later, but used non-skid mats as a temporary solution and have had no problems, so I will just leave things as they are. My drawers are 30" wide and 11" deep. I had also looked at the Ikea plate dividers but decided their sizes would be too restrictive and at about $10 each times 6 stacks, they would be almost as expensive as the Hafele.

To the left of my dishwasher in the top drawer is cutlery, middle drawer is plates, bowls, and bottom drawer is storage containers. To the right of the sink, the top drawer has the 8 oz. tumblers and coffee mugs, middle drawer holds the taller drinking glasses, pint glasses, and taller coffee mugs. Bottom drawer holds the Instant Pot and Cuisinart griddler. It's very easy to unload the dishwasher because the majority of the items are in very close proximity. The one thing that is quite a ways from the dishwasher is the drawer for the water bottles. Those are kept next to the refrigerator/beverage drawers in the second island. The caps are in the top drawer and the bottles are in the middle drawer, kitchen towels are in the bottom. I struggled with this when planning the kitchen, but in the end I decided it would be most convenient to have them next to where the kids would most likely use them. It keeps them out of the work flow, so that's a big bonus, even if it does mean having to walk a ways to put them away when unloading the dishwasher.

Thanks sophie. I think I used a french cleat to hang a big mirror once and, if I recall, it wasn't too hard to do. I'm not the type to clean behind weekly, but at the lake, it is best to do it once in a while. Neighbours at the lake spray their cottage every season to get rid of the spiders. I give them my lecture about how spiders are an indication of an overall healthy environment, but they just roll their eyes at me (having said that, I admit to squealing like a teenager if one dares to crawl on me).

Thanks to those who have responded. I'm bumping this forward in hopes that others will answer also, especially the question of where do you get the pegboard and pegs. I plan to put fancy and fragile stuff in some of my drawers, the kinds of things I really do not want clunking around.

If I decide against pegboards or if they're too pricey, I'm considering sewing long colorful quilted pads to thread between dishes, kind of like the side bumpers we used to put along the edges of infant cribs. Or would I be happier with pegs?

I don't personally have them, but my friend who just went through a remodel
has a huge china service for 12 in a drawer with pegboard.
They fit perfectly and she loves them.
I was surprised that all pieces fit so well, but they do and with very little wasted space.

I was just wondering if pegboards could also be used for frying pans. I'm planning on having a deep drawer for my fry/saute pans but they would be more accessible on their sides(rather than stacked). I was wondering how well the pegboard would work to keep them in their place. Has anyone seen that use?
