I think you'd probably find that you would be violating your adoption terms with the Humane Society and most important, why in the heck would you want inbred kittens?

It sounds like you know what is the right thing to do. Have her spayed and tell your friends that thousands of kittens and cats are put to sleep every year. The humane associations should have dozens for them to choose from. Good for you for being a responsible pet owner.

Absolutely get her spayed and the pregnancy terminated, if there is a pregnancy at all. Pregnancy, birth, and lactation are extremely hard on a 6 mo old kitten and may result in her own growth and development being stunted. Inbred kittens may suffer from all sorts of genetic weaknesses and abnormalities. Even if your kitten does manage to give birth to genetically normal, healthy kittens and doesn't suffer any short-term or permanent physical problems of her own as a result, there really isn't any adequate justification for bringing more kittens into a world that is already overflowing with homeless kittens who are being euthanized by the thousands for lack of loving homes.

Instead of creating more problems for your kitten, yourself, and the world's feline population, invite those four people who want kittens to an "adoption party". Pack them in your car, drive them to the nearest animal shelter, and help them pick out needy kittens of their very own. Everybody wins!

On top of everything else (or maybe at the bottom of everything else), she's likely not mature enough to be a good mother.

She may refuse to nurse her babies, she may kill them.

At least one of them is almost sure to be a fading kitten; it'll die not matter what heroic measures you take.

Spare her the problems, spare yourself the heartache, & spare some shelter kittens death by needle-let your friends adopt them.

& have her spayed ASAP:
the earlier in pregnancy, the easier it is on her.

I do like Laurie's idea of an Adoption Party,
positive experience, positive results all round.

I agree with the other posts, I think you should have ner neutured and refer your friends to an assortment of shelters where they can find plenty of lovely kitties in need of a loving home. Thank you in advance for spaying/neutering!

Not to beat a dead horse, but the cats we kill in shelters every single day have fantastic personalities, too. Nice kittens are a dime a dozen.

Your cat is special. To you and a few other people who know her and don't actually have to worry about getting donations and tax dollars and volunteers to care for her. If you dropped her at a shelter tomorrow, she becomes just another nice cat.

Spay her. If you want a litter of kittens, most shelters need foster homes for kittens. You get teeny little kittens and keep them until they're 2lb (8-12 weeks, generally). It's lots of fun, and you don't have to worry about all of the details (making sure they get fixed, find good homes, etc.)

Absolutely get her neutered tomorrow. It's not a good thing to have a baby having babies. Too hard on her development and any genetic defects will certainly come out of a brother/sister litter. My daughter had the meanest cat I ever saw, the result of such a mating.

Check out my posts about the feed store cats, they were teenage mothers and it was very hard on them and their kittens. Blackie's almost died because she didn't have enough milk. Have her spayed asap, better for everyone.

You've already gotten a ton of feedback, but here's some more...please, please get your cat spayed...and her siblings neutered. There are too many unwanted cats in the world already.

the cat is spayed, home and playing and we have 4 gifts for friends -- canvas bags from the human society -- with kitten adoption papers inside. Notice, our cats were babies from semi-feral cats, when we adopted them, we paid for two additional adoptions (so someone who didn't have the money to adopted, could adopt. You guys are really condesending and made it seem like I didn't know there is an issue of too many kittens. The people that wanted the kittens didn't (and probably don't) want adopted kittens. They liked out cats that much. The cats are, according to the vet, most likely 1/2 siblings. However, after discussing it with the vet, we both thought there were other issues and I was already leaning toward spaying but liked the idea of kittens and particularly kittens that were wanted.

Years ago we knew a cat owner in New Zealand who faced the same problem. He put the cat on his boat at anchor (we were on our boat in the same anchorage) to keep her away from the males, who gathered and fought on the beach. After howling for a while, she swam ashore. She didn't survive the birth.

I'd get that cat in as soon as possible to have her spayed.

I just wanted to say you did the right thing. I understand how you feel, when you just have the perfect cat, I have one I would love to have more of. But I have seen the effects of inbreeding. Had an acquantance who didn't particularly like cats, but did take a stray in. The cat had kittens, the kittens had kittens, & it continued. Most were siblings and many, many did not survive long. Adult cats were miniature size, lots of health issues & some did not survive the births. The original cat was a lovely cat, nice personality, but most of the kittens did not have her personality. Of course, my friend didn't really care for cats & didn't pay a lot of attention to them other than feed them. Still, I think the inbreeding caused most of the problems.

we just wanted to give you some moral support to get her spayed, & everybody sort of chimed in with a "me too" & a "by the way" or a "& besides did you think of this...".

It was very generous & thoughtful of you to get the adoption papers & totebags for your friends & to pay extra to help these kitties' siblings.

When people come to this forum with pregnant cat questions, we do assume they need a starte course in Pet Overpopulation 101 : ) I am sure no one meant to be condescending. The idea of deliberately making more kittens is fingernails on the blackboard, here.

Refin, didn't mean to sound condescending, but please do consider fostering kittens, if you like the idea of kittens. I still babble like a proud mother about all of my foster babies from years ago! Unless you get them *really* young, they're not as labor intensive as you might think, and you get to see them go through their silly little stages. Once one of them learns to do anything, it's like they can't do anything else (until they learn something new, of course). With my litters, as soon as one would learn to hiss, they'd all hiss in response to everything for a day or two. I'd feed them, pet them, they'd play with each other, and they'd all just hiss and hiss. It was hilarious. When they learned to fluff up, everything was cause for fluffing up. You've never laughed so hard as when you present a bunch of screechy foster kittens with food and they all puff up and hiss over and over again. I had one little one who got into spitting. He spit over everything for a few days. He'd run up for kisses and spit like the angriest cat ever. It was the silliest thing. I can't wait until I'm in a position to foster kittens again. I really had a great time. It's something I recommend for anyone who likes kittens. If you work (in a place you can't take kittens), you can't take the very youngest, but most of the ones who need fostering will do just fine with someone who works.

Fostering IS fun but I always want to keep them. My last year's fosters turned one year old on July 1st. I would dearly love to see Buster who was adopted from the rescue group. I DO have Henry who last year at this time was a tiny thing who just fit into my hand. He now is a 15 pound solid affectionate boy, and I'm glad I kept him.
