Definitely Shepherd and maybe Lab or Doberman. How big is he? (he's a cutie, by the way)

I'll try getting a pic out soon. He is about 3 foot long and 2 feet tall, about 40lbs. He has a very deep bark with a threatening tone when needed, gives off the sound of a very big dog. He also prefers to sleep about 20 hours a day hah. Always catch him getting back in bed. But he's very playful and active outside.

Funny how he is so obedient and loving in contrast to our other "designer dog" Yeah a mix of cocker spaniel and american eskimo can do strange things. I recently googled and found he is a hybrid breed called a cock-a-mo. He is almost 10 and still behaves like a puppy and is willing to use all force against us when he wants to. Google also pulled up several craigslist adds trying to get rid of cock-a-mo's for bad temper with kids ;) The pet store even asked a half a year after we got him "have you noticed any problems with your dog?" Hah but he's really smart, seems to know the complete English language, and can be really loving at times.

Guess mixed breeds is where all the excitment is!

He didn't look that big to me to be a shep. Need something to get an idea of the scale. Getting dogs to sit still for the camera, especially digital cameras is really tough to do.

I'm thinking Shepherd/Terrier. The coat markings are Shepherd, the size and the eyes are Terrier. So glad you found each other :)

Here are a few more pics. Sounds like everyone agrees on the shepherd as one part. Maybe he has more than 2 kinds of dogs in his background. Definetly would love to have just one like him down the road as he is around 10 now (He still is active and healthy like a pup), but might just be a one of a kind.

I really think those are terrier feet!

My guess is Terrier and maybe some Lab on the ears or Shepard in the nose shape. Other than some of his coloring I don't see a bit of Rottie in him.

I have had pure breeds and mixes and you know what I know? The best dogs ever are the ones that pick you. This doll picked you.

Does that mean you are not going to keep him? If not, ask on here and call rescue groups. There are many people like me who would rather have a dog in its senior years, no matter the vet costs, than a young dog.

He reminds me, a bit, of our very old american fox hound who passed recently.

No no, never would get rid of this dog. I just would love to have the same dog again if I could in the future. That's probably not possible though. I think he abandoned his previous home because of the owners having a new baby. He wants to be the only baby. But the few times we've ever had to yell at him (eating bad things in the yard, little things) he reports as fast as he can and bows down shaking as if he is supposed to be hit. So maybe he was previously abused and now he is thankful for a safe home. I hope he lives forever.

Oh he also has no tail (stub) if that's another clue

Isn't it fun to guess? This is Roxy the miniature Rottweiler. She has little skinny legs and pointed face. And half an ear missing. She weighs 47 pounds.

I have a 2year old mutt, Harley, i took in from a friend of a friend, and have no idea what breeds he originates from. Does anyone have any ideas what he could be?

Pointier nose I say australian shepherd or pointer mix in there. Harley is absolutely a goof. I would guess he has english mastiff and lab....

Could be an Australian Shepherd mix, the face coloring is near identical to my Pip (purebred Australian) pictured here, the weight is about right, the paws don't look right,, stubby tail is right but that could be any dog who's had his tail docked.

People usually think of Aussies as being gray/white or red or brown with merling but they can be pretty much anything except absolute solid black. There are also two head types for Australians so they don't always look like that "classic" merled Aussie most people associate with an Aussie

I'm going with jopey that the first guy is a hound/terrier mix. It's just that unmistakable hound look in his face in the one picture!

As for the last guy, harely - I would go with Boxer/Mastiff. Why? Because we have a boxer-pit bull mix and his body is IDENTICAL to harleys, markings and all - ears are the same too, actually quite strange!

But our guy has a definite pitbull face, not the saggy face.

I was thinking Boxer/Mastiff for Harley too....

To the original poster - your dog has similar coloring to mine. We think Paisley is Lab, Pekignese, German Shepard, Pug and maybe Beagle? We can't be sure.

@Spencer, i think your dog maybe be a German/Mini Doberman mix. and i say Miniature because of his weight and size. He is a cutie!

@Danielle Wailkening, He looks like a Mastiff/Labrador/Boxer mix. he has the face and snout of the mastiff, the hieght and muscles of a lab and the body of a boxer. Sure is cute though!

I'm going with aussie mix (or any shepherd/collie mix) as well. The docked tail is a sign, as well as the high set ears that stand out.

Also, the intelligence you describe totally points to aussie - one of the smartest breeds around.

(My own aussie is shaved, and his ears totally look like your dog's). The "face-splitting" grin is a big aussie give-away. See if he has one of those :)
