I was 70 today!!

I never thought I would live this long!! I have had a great day, lots of cards and phone calls. My DH took me out of town for dinner. We came home and a beautiful yellow knockout rose was sitting on the porch. My son is having a birthday party for me Friday. His 8 year old son just got out of the hospital today, he had strep throat. He was in there 4 days. All in all I had a great day!! Charlene

Fantastic Dax!! You've been busy, and I know you're having a great time. You've got some beautiful specimens there -- love your 'Bush's Lace', and that 'Viola' is gorgeous. Did you just get the 'Viola', or did you move it from your old place? It has a great shape and color. I've got a small 'Bush's Lace' coming later this month -- been wanting one for a while now. I'm curious how you're deciding what to put where -- are you laying out all your plants in what will be island beds, or borders, or will they be individual specimens, or ?? I've found it really difficult to decide on placement when working on a blank slate. Really nice that you can get all these plants in before planting grass -- much better than planting all the grass then digging it back up -- which is what we have been doing :( That's tough work. Oh, and the birds will be thrilled with all your plantings. We planted a large Norway Spruce a week or so ago, and within 3 days a Mockingbird had built a new nest in it! Have a great day planting!! So happy for you. Keep the pictures coming! It's going to be 70 here today and it sucks to have to go to work -- I want to be planting, and weeding, and mulching, and ..... Kim

A partial solution could be to attach flannel interlining between the drape and the lining. This will give the drape a fuller appearance. For a complete solution you could sew two panels together (or have someone do it for you) and then attach flannel interlining. I like the bamboo idea too, I think they look great! Depending on how much energy you want to invest, maybe combine both elements (blinds and interlined drapes).

When folks get here after the holiday weekend festivities they are going to want to see drawings of your lay out and photos of the room. Or photos of your cabinetry and fixtures and paint. It is easy to say what the options are - a light over each sink, (or more preferably these days) a pair of sconces at head height 30 - 36 inches apart above each sink - right through the glass. That is "normal" these days, plus either pot lights in the ceiling for general lighting or some kind of ceiling fixture or chandelier if the room is big. Lighting in the shower, too. But what goes with YOUR bathroom will depend on your choices, and that is what everyone here is going to enjoy playing with.

Happy Birthday! I am so jealous. I have been 78 since December, and no one gave me a yellow Knockout rose. I have two red ones that are spectacular... never saw anythng grow as big and fast. Had one of them by the breakfast table window and it got so big I had to prune it severely to be able to see out. I know I need more of them, so will look for a yellow one.
