Lav faucet install problem--urgent help please!
Comments (2)Thanks for the info. It is the K181. It looks as if the spout has several steps on the bottom--which would accomodate different sized holes. The bottom step fits in the spout hole (sort of) for our sink. I just does not go all the way down so that the next "step" rests flat on the surface of the sink. My husband was able to get it attached fairly securely. He also found an escutcheon that fits around the base of the spout (which was in the package, though wasn't listed in the install instructions), so the gap at the bottom is covered. Seems to function properly as installed, with no leaks. So I think we're good to go until we remodel that bathroom. I think those faucets are meant (ideally) to be mounted in a countertop with an undermount sink. It figures that the prettiest faucets are a pain to repair. However, what we had before were made by a company called "Epic" which is which has now gone out of business. We tried unsuccessfully to get compatible parts for the old ones, to no avail. At least Phylrich is still around. Thanks again for your response....See MoreInstalling Silgranit Sink HELP
Comments (3)Pretty sure granite guys used silicone. Would Blanco website have that info?? Good thing you stopped him-plumbers putty is a no, no for these sinks. Just checked the Blanco site-silicone adhesive sealant. I have the black sink too. I love it!!!...See MorePlease - Help from Blanco Silgranit Super Single Sink Owners
Comments (4)Thanks everyone! Are you talking about the floor of the cabinet or the actual floor of the kitchen in your measurements? tracyac and angier - would you please clarify? I greatly appreciate you taking the measurements. The center of our waste drain is 10" from the floor of the sink base cabinet and the floor of the cabinet is another 6" from the slab floor. So . . . . , I don't think the super single is going to work unless I lower the waste drain at least 4 or more inches and I understand that is a big job. Our sink cabinet is along a pony wall that also has the DW. We are in a great room design and the kitchen is open to the living and dining room. I think the piping would be fairly easy to get to from the dining room side of the pony wall, but I don't know if the waste pipe travels somewhere else before it goes below our slab. If it were a straight drop from where the stub comes out of the cabinet perhaps the job wouldn't be too bad. Hum m m m ? Comments (5)I had the same problem. There is a window behind the sink and we had to cut the sill down to accomodate the faucet. It just did fit behind the sink though. The hole in the granite did have to be adapted because the faucet could not be placed in the hole at a 90 degree angle due to the sink sill so had to come in at an angle into a slightly larger hole. Just to say you might want to think about how the faucet will be installed while your countertop people are there doing the templating. Even if you do a corner placement, not sure why you would be able to only have one of the choices of an airswitch or soap dispenser. If the space is tight for the airswitch you could get a fiber optic switch that requires only 3/8" hole in the countertop....See Moremikomum
