You have a fairly classic layout. Some might suggest swapping the fridge and hutch, but I think it's fine. A few points:

1. What's in the hutch/appliance garage? You need a place for your toaster and coffee maker, and I hope that's it, away from the prep area. Otherwise they're going to end up in the corner, the worst possible place for them.

2. Or is that the MW in there? If it is I'd think about an under counter or drawer MW in the island near the fridge instead.

3. Are you paneling the side of your fridge? I would, if it's facing the great room or dining room. A full view of a tilted-back fridge isn't so nice.

4. Do you have any other place for a water source? I know L-shaped kitchens with islands are supposed to be super efficient. However, I find guests have a tendency to nestle in the only corner, delusionally believing they are "out of the way." And people also run for water right behind the cook at the stove. Easiest fix is water in the fridge, but a bar or prep-type sink could also be useful.

Thanks for your responses.

1/2. The hutch will house the microwave because we rarely use it. The doors swing open and can slide back if we need to use the microwave for an extended period. The toaster will also live in there. We use an espresso machine which will live in the "corner" above the dishwasher (next to the hutch).

3. Both the refrigerator and the side of the hutch are paneled. The island also has panels on each end.

4. Water source- There is another water source in the pantry. The refrigerator also has an interior water spigot, although we will be on well water. In my experience at my old house, the guests snuggled up to the island to visit. Hopefully that will hold true!

One other comment and one other question:

You are rather inviting people to grab ice from the fridge and scoot to the beverage fridge past the range, which is not an ideal traffic pattern. One thought is to make sure that the "beverage" fridge is a real UC fridge, with temp control good enough to hold real food. This way, if you later decide to relocate food for prep--stuff that has to be washed or cut up, or previously-prepped food waiting for cooking--to the UC fridge, where it would be very handy, you have that option.

Other question: What are you doing in your corner there? I see something that looks frighteningly like a shelved cupboard with lots of lost, blind storage. Are you doing a Magic Corner pullout? Have you thought about a Super Susan?

If you're prepping in the corner between the sink and range, then it makes sense to switch the locations of the fridge and hutch. If I'm reading your plan correctly, it means you would need 3 more inches on the end of the wall where the hutch currently resides. What is beyond that cabinetry? Blank wall? Windows? Door? If you switch then you have a very simple line to follow when cooking--take food out of fridge, take 2 steps, wash produce/meat, take 2 steps, prep, 2 steps, cook. Also, when guests need beverages, they are kept at that end of the kitchen and away from the prep/cooking area.

What are you keeping in the small fridge?

Also, I would definitely use that blind corner--it's just too much space to waste!

Your kitchen is a lot like mine would be if I tore the wall down between my kitchen and DR. Except the sink wall in my kitchen is all window so no uppers possible there for me.

Thanks for taking a peek at this! I appreciate your comments. I am hesitant to switch the hutch and refrigerator though, because the dining room is open to the left of the island if you are sitting at the barstools. I would prefer to have the refrigerator further away from the dining room, even if that means the kitchen would be slightly less efficient!

Marcolo- the corner cabinet for the upper is a susan and the bottom is a smart susan...does that make you feel better? :)

Are you going to get a "good" fridge for under the island, as I suggested? Typical bevvy fridges can't be trusted to hold food; a better fridge gives you some flexibility in case you decide the trek to the big fridge gets too irritating.

Also, you don't have room to pull the toaster out when you're using it. That's kind of dangerous under the uppers. Can you put a breadboard right under the appliance garage/above the cutlery drawer? Some GW members swear by them for extra emergency counter space, and one would give you a place to plop the toaster when it's in use.

Also also, your drawing shows a center drain in your sink. A sink with an offset drain allows you to do a pullout beneath your sink, for all those cleaning supplies no one can ever find.

Also also also, I just noticed you have very few dimensions on your floorplan. I'd check around old threads for oodles of wisdom about aisle widths, island overhangs, upper/lower recommended cabinet depths, etc.

Marcolo- you don't miss anything! Thank you!!!! We are getting a "good" fridge that gets down to 34 degrees, so I would think it could definitely double for food storage during holidays, etc. There are actually three temperature zones within...

I am not worried about the toaster. We don't use it often and we plan to pull it out of the hutch to toast.

We are doing an offset drain (siligranit super single 33" with the righthand offset drain).

I have researched and researched both aisle widths and island overhang and both meet/exceed recommended specs! Same with uppers and lowers.
