Creme Brulee in shot glasses?

We are doing a holiday open house this Sunday - weather permitting!

I got the brilliant idea to do chocolate mousse in some large (2.5 oz) shot glasses--that's all good just mix and chill.

I wanted to do a non-chocolate something in a regular sized shot glasses and thought a crÃ¯Â¿Â½me brulee might work. Generally that's a baked dessert. I worry these lovely Italian shot glasses might not like the heat.

Suggestions on how to pull this off? Alternate ideas for my little shot glasses?

The buffet will include other desserts so if the crÃ¯Â¿Â½me brulee doesn't work, no one will suffer unduly.

Nice idea! Not sure if i would trust it though, with torch heat. Not something in your collection of specials. A custard maybe? Not the same, but aren't they made stovetop, then chilled in containers? An easy caramel on top might be similar.

1 cup (2 sticks or 8 ounces) unsalted butter, cut into a few large pieces
1 cup packed light brown sugar
A big pinch of sea salt
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

"In a medium heavy-duty saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together, and stir it over medium heat until it begins to boil. Once it has begun boiling, let it bubble for three more minutes, stirring it well. It will thicken a bit as it cooks. Remove from the heat and add the salt and vanilla, and then quickly pour it over the matzo or crackers. YouÃ¢ÂÂll want to spread it quickly, as it will begin to set as soon as it is poured."

Just one part of a recipe i make for the holidays. Might work. Could be cut in half.
But might need that heat, bubbly oven time.

Make a panna cotta in your lovely glasses - I wouldn't want to risk cracking them!

It's pretty normal for most perennials to have flowers for a week or two tops out of the season. I haven't grown this particular coreopsis, but most of the ones I've grown have been basically like this. However, most coreopsis will rebloom a little bit if deadheaded, unlike say a peony where that's it for the year. And yes, you can definitely use scissors to cut it back -- I'd say you can cut as much as about half of it off, water and maybe give it a shot of miracle grow or similar, and it should bloom again in a few weeks, but not as heavily as the first time. Maybe someone who has grown this particular one will chime in with a better answer, but I think I'm at least in the ballpark.

Hello ladies and happy every Holiday I missed. To those of you who do know me, I am back and mentally back on track (I think). To those of you who don't, well I was I am a member, love everyone here. Went away to do some great mission work and had some very tragic things happen. Many hours of therapy later, and actually returning to the Dominican I think I have healed, I am not bitter, sad, or frightened to leave my house any more. I am able to talk about it and I feel that I can share with postive feelings now. But enough of that. Am I to late for April? Please tell me that I can play in April? Work with your tiler. And here is a good place to remind you to look at several of his/her previous jobs! Allowing for the fact that the more sizes and thicknesses of tiles are used, the more difficult it is to lay well, but you should be able to get a feel for the quality of work done. If you aren't comfortable, don't hire -- your subconscious may be noting crooked tiles or sloppy grouting where your conscious eye didn't pay attention. I assume you have samples of each tile, if not, do get. Work up a sketch of what you want, it doesn't have to be to scale, but does need to show patterns and which tile is to go where. Label carefully. The tiler will also be able to estimate the amount needed of each size; and don't forget that the more complicated your pattern and/or the more cuts needed (for curves, corners, odd sizes) the more tiles will be used -- which can drastically up the overall cost. Don't forget that a few exquisite tiles can be showcased at eye-level to draw attention to the individual tiles, while being surrounded by much less expensive ones. Let's face it: once the tile is laid, the ones in the corner, on the floor, and behind the toilet, just aren't noticed much.

Most places sell it for between five and six or up to eight dollars, so that's a great price. They say they're 15 oz bottles. Maybe somebody else would want to go in on it with you?? I've always heard of it described as a mayo with more vinegar and also with a mustard taste. Sounds good. Smiles. My DW used it when she used to travel to the UK all the time for buisness. Surprised she didn't bring any back. I have a head of savoy cabbage so I'm going to make my easy 'stuffed' cabbage casserole that I described above. It makes it so easy and quick which is just what we want on a Saturday night. Steam the cabbage briefly, layer it with dirty rice, pour some tomato juice mixed with onion and garlic powder between layers and on top and bake for about 40 minutes. I'll see if I can manage to take a picture. I seem to be terrible at that. The camera is always in the other room and it's a kind of big house and by the time I'm done cooking I'm not walking very well. LOL.. We will see. Oh btw, I always make two dishes of this because Christy gets burnt out on "red" since I always have something made with red sauce around I make her a version with just some broth on it. I do stuffed peppers for her the same way. No red. I do love the red on it but prefer tomato juice since it's nice and light although I'll just water down tomato sauce or puree with chicken stock/broth, if I don't have any handy.

Oh the panna cotta is a great idea! Especially with a garnish of fresh fruit.

Saw a picture somewhere that hollowed out large-ish fresh strawberries, but the creme inside, and them bruleed the tops. looked wonderful and I bet tasted even better.

Sol, that's beautiful, as usual. One of these days I'm going to have to get to your house for dinner. Or dessert. Or whatever. (grin)

I also would be afraid of subjecting your lovely glasses to the heat of the torch. The panna cotta is a very good idea, or another flavor of mousse, like raspberry. The zabaglione would be nice too, maybe with a "finger" of shortbread....
