Best interior for sofa seat cushions? - Lee Industries Sofa
Comments (2)Hi 3 kids, I visited my local foam supplier recently and learned there are many foam grades with varying firmness. Dacron wrapped foam would be a typical (lower end) alternative to down wrapped. There may be a synthetic down layer alternative that comes closer to what you have. What does Lee present for options? Funny, I have a pair of CL Lee sofas that are missing their back cushions. Any way I could recycle yours?...See MoreJust got our sofa cushions back from upholstery shop...UGH!
Comments (5)(get out the blood pressure cuff, you guys...) Didn't the upholsterer offer you samples for the all-important "sit test"? Foam comes in a myriad of qualities and densities. (a search will probably help explain this). The cheap stuff (think Jo Ann's) "softens" pretty quickly because it's pretty cheap and of low/mediocre quality. Really good quality foam that is dense and rated as "firm" won't "soften" appreciably without the passage of a lot of time. You can wrap it in several layers of batting and it won't make much difference. Or it SHOULDN'T. Batting should be used more to soften the LOOK of a stuffed cushion. But if you're looking for a "soft" foam, no amount of batting is going to be the answer to your problem. You might be able to work out some sort of deal with the upholsterer by "trading in" the foam you don't like for something you prefer, but don't count on it. Like bolt goods (fabric cut for an order), once it's cut you own it! (with bolt goods you have the recourse of visible flaws, but ONLY if the flaw is caught before the goods are cut to the customer's order). Foam is horribly expensive now (think oil prices). We just received the latest notice of price increases... 15-20% per sheet (24 or 30"w X 108"l)! and there is shipping on top of that....See MorePlease vote for fabric for our new sofa cushions
Comments (12)The one we ended up selecting is the one shown with the leather piece on here. It is about the same darkness as the piece of the sectional we are using as a sofa. The other samples were of the same depth in color. Never felt they were too light, but donâÂÂt want to go much darker. IâÂÂm not a huge fan of dark stuff, but it seems that is all we end up with. The photos might make the colors appear lighter than they are. Anyways it is moot at this point as IâÂÂll need to start over. The price jumped 2.5K as I was reviewing the order and found they hadnâÂÂt included leather as I had requested on the whole frame. That was discussed numerous times and I kept saying the whole frame. Although we could pay that, IâÂÂm not thrilled at going so far over with something IâÂÂm not 100% in love with and also have to wait at least 90 days if not more to get. So will start the search over again, of course with that IâÂÂll probably still not have a sofa 90 days from now....See MoreBrand new couch back cushions -- stiff and not comfy??
Comments (4)Hindsight is 20/20 -- never buy living room sofas or chairs you cannot sit in to see how they feel. Whether by "not comfy" you mean they're not soft to lean back against or not inviting looking, unless you can return the sofas, throw pillows will be your answer. If the cushions feel stiff, don't worry, they'll soften with use. Investing in some soft thin throw pillows in your favorite color will soften the look and provide additional back cushioning. No, don't change the filling/cushions -- that would be a huge mistake you will regret in the future....See MoreMy3dogs ME zone 5A
