snake dies after biting model

A model in Tel Aviv was doing a photo shoot with a snake, she leaned in to lick it's head when it bit her breast. The snake died from silicone poisoning. Can't find the link.

FWIW JD is diverse enough in its product lines to not be affected too terribly by a downturn in L&G sales. Others such as MTD, AYP, and Simplicity will feel the pinch more sharply. JD is definitely moving its business model toward consolidated dealers with modern dealerships. From what I gather the idea is to offload more product and parts inventories to these "mega" dealers to help alleviate the overhead at the distribution level. From my perspective, it appears that JD is also making more of a go at a "just in time" type distribution system, where tractors aren't built until there is an order. This tends to hurt smaller dealers since they don't have inventory for people to walk in, make a deal, and walk out with their machine. My dealer of choice has seen quite a few sales leave because the customer wanted/needed their machine sooner than the week plus lead time needed to get a new JD. It's a harder sell when a customer has to wait a week as opposed to driving onto a Kubota or other dealer lot and leaving with a new machine that same day. Speaking of my dealer of choice, JD is also giving them the ultimatum of upsize or lose your dealership. They have also done this to a dealer about 50 miles away. The corporate suits came in from IL and determined the size and location of the dealership, passed it down by decree, and wouldn't budge regarding alternate locations. The chosen location is across from a super Wal-Mart and less than a mile away from a future Lowe's. The alternate location suggested is a few miles away where there currently rests a vacant strip mall. The land itself at the JD selected site is nearly $1 million, while the strip mall site is far less. Also, having Lowe's a stone's throw away selling 100 series tractors and the two lower Z models puts a pretty big damper on sales of same from the dealer. At least being out of view of Lowe's might give them a fighting chance selling those machines. JD makes a fine product, but there sure is a lot of arrogance in that company.

i talk to anoles, too. :) in fact, we- me & the kids- put them and green tree frogs in the cool greenhouse for the winter to help with bugs. don't know that it's worked, but it is fun looking for them. the big male likes to sun on my bird's perch, and he likes to flirt with me, bobbing his provocative throat pouch at me so i'll be impressed. i bob back at him and tell him he's handsome. hb- i can't say that i'm too surprised the racer was striking under those circumstances. i think i'd try to bite, too. lol. glad he didn't take off. i haven't seen ours around since he got in the net, but didn't see him before that either, so no biggie. we sight a big king snake once or twice a summer- i think it's probably the same one we've been seeing for a number of years. we kept a couple rough green snakes as pets for a summer in our terrarium with some anoles and skinks, and they were so cool. they hung out and curled up into knots together- the thing that surprised me most- and were like living sculptures. the anoles got used to them within a day or 2. they were also complete pigs, which is part of why we let them go, fat & sassy, ready for fall. when we released them, they hung out in the same tree for a couple of days- i guess they thought it was a big cage. we got some good pix of them there. my kids and i wouldn't mind having another snake, but i don't want anything that eats furry things, which eliminates most of them, unfortunately. as an aside, i haven't found a single garter snake in the 13 years we've lived here. lots of other kinds, but no garters. i thought they were ubiquitous. probably one of the coolest was the ultra tame milk snake we found one day. gorgeous markings! worm snakes are cool, too. tam

Wow that is a nasty bite. I was thinking about this (people not realizing they were bitten) and there are some people who have neuropathy (nerve damage) from diabetes or other diseases that might not realize they were bitten if a lot of venom wasn't injected for whatever reason. They might not feel the initial pain of the bite but the effects of the venom as they became ill. I got bit by a brown recluse spider one time and didn't know I was bit until the ulcer showed up. I don't have any reason for getting an ulcer on my leg and I was young and healthy. Then I remembered seeing the recluse spider when I was moving some boxes in our basement. Luckily it healed okay. It is common not to feel recluse bites though. Some people are allergic or get infections from them though and that's when the trouble starts. ~sjn

It could easily have been a non-venomous snake or a venomous snake with a dry bite? No way to know. As for leaving the hospital "because I could watch myself as well as he could watch me", you might want to reconsider that in the future. You may be able to watch, but if things go bad you wouldn't be able to treat yourself. What would you have done if you had experienced respiratory paralysis or anaphylaxis while you were watching yourself? You could have died before you got to medical treatment again. Not trying to preach, just realize there are serious potential consequences to venomous snake bites that aren't always immediately evident.

wonder if it broke the silicone implant? it did mention her having to go into hospital...what if it leaked into her body?

According to media reports, the model had to be transported to the emergency room of a hospital in Hadera, north of Jerusalem, where she was treated by a team specialized in snake attacks.

The reptile allegedly died of silicone poisoning, from the modelÃ¯Â¿Â½s prosthesis, shortly after.

Ridiculous. Why is the snake's handler allowing her to handle the snake in such a manner? The snake is obviously stressed.

There is no way the snake's fangs reached the implant. The snake just grabbed a bit of skin.

If the snake really died it was of stress or poor medical care. Silicone did not kill that snake. Snakes don't absorb through their fangs. Hasn't anyone reading this stuff ever been around a snake? Watched it eat? Held one?

Bunch of malarkey.

This is as fake as her boobs. Just another publicity stunt for a wanna be porn star.

There are twitter updates that say that the model did in fact get bitten. But the snake did not die. They are saying that media heard a comment joking that the snake died and took it seriously and ran with it. Why I never ever trust the media.

I saw the video, so I believe it happened. Too silly to fake. By the way, My Mom (who passed in January) would have loved this! She hated snakes!
