We are getting it here in Windsor & Detroit area too. First wave tomorrow and the second wave Saturday.

Anne, I'll be OK with it until I have to go somewhere. We're supposed be out tomorrow night at a Trivia Night. This is something we look forward to each year with friends. Sure hope we get to use the tickets! I'm hoping the worst will be Saturday when I can stay home and just watch it come down. The winds are to get very strong as well so not a good forecast at all.

I've got company coming to stay for a couple of days on Tuesday so I will have to get some shopping done this weekend. Last time this year I was outside repotting my indoor plants. LOL The weather was so different.

Just watched the weather report - looks like now Windsor is only going to get between 1 and 3 inches starting Saturday am. Doesn't look so good for the rest of you.

mush..how long does it take to get into toronto from the falls? dd2 has a business meeting and i suggested she take the detour to the falls then drive into the city...she's never been to either place...(know it's only 4 hours to drive straight from detroit)

About an hour and a half from the Falls to TO - maybe closer to two hours, depending on traffic and conditions.

A good three hours in rush hour, I think - lacking personal experience. What do you say, Mush?

Hey, I have a copy of that winter jpeg from a few years ago - isn't it a lovely sentiment?

Ottawa is getting the storm as well after Mush gets through with it. This IS the worst winter since my first year living in Ottawa '71-'72. I like snow but NOT like this.

When the storm rolls in over the weekend I told DH I don't even want to look at it I'm so sick of it - I think it's going to be a good weekend to work on a quilt and watch my new DVD series - The Pallisers. I just don't want to look at it anymore. I'm going out today to pick up a few items before the snow starts and then I'm only going out to shovel and think very bad thoughts about the snow ... I'll be wishing it a spring thaw. And don't get me started on the spring thaw either - I'm not looking forward to the April flooding to follow...

susan, I generally leave myself 2 1/2 hrs. to get into downtown Toronto. It can be done in 2 but that's on a really good day :) Going through St. Catharines now where I am is a challange on a good day. They are widening the QEW (highway) and it is a mess. Traffic literally comes to a stop because of volume in places. So from NF I say for her to count on 2 1/2 -3 hours to allow for road work and not knowing the area.

The "ground hog" sure got it wrong this winter. He didn't see his shadow, so spring was to come early. LOL

I just can't believe this winter!
It's been horrible!It's really starting to get to me the past few day...I need to feel warm breezes on my face and sunshine.....when will it all end!

Right now the temp on my puter says -11!!!!! 11 below zero! With a wind chill of 34 below!!! Seems like we warm up to almost 30 and the next day we are back below zero! It's been seesawing like this for what seems like forever!!

I too am sick of this winter and even though I hate the mud of spring, I think I won't mind it this year!!!

Ok, now I am really ticked. We cancelled our plans for tonight. The drive home from work was a nightmare and we ended up getting stuck on the road in front of our house. I figured I could get to the hall OK but was really concerned about getting home later at 11 p.m. and then getting stuck on the street again. DH said No lets not go anywhere.
Well right now it's doing squat! We could easily have made it to the hall. I don't think we are going to get what they thought. The grocery stores were nuts here today. Everyone is scared silly. Maybe I'll eat these words tomorrow but tonight I would have liked to go out!

It's snowing here now and the weather guy in Detroit says we might get between 3-8 inches maybe. You guys are looking to get up to 14 inches. That's a lotta snow.

Everyone is getting the snow up in Canada. We're getting it here in KY too, wish Spring would come around here soon!

It didn't snow Thursday night so I was able to drive to the barn to get the display box on wheels that my friend wanted and load it into the back.

Picked up the driver-friend, dropped off the box and the owner went to his house and picked up the high striker (thing at carnival that you hit the pad with a mallet and the metal slider slides up part way ... or all the way to ring the bell, and you get a prize).

I brought his Female Canine home, as he left her alone in his apt. yesterday and the animal control people came to leave a note on his door to take him to task. So I'm keeping the F C for the weekend. We won't use the usual term for a female of the canine variety - censor won't allow it, for one thing.

Then did some shopping, paid some bills at the bank, dropped off my co-driver and came home.

The F C made one great discovery immediately on arrival - there are cats here ... and the cats found that she can travel somewhere between 4 and 6 times as fast as daughter's mini dachschie could! She loves to travel at speed around the obstacles in the garage ... chasing the cats.

Whenever I let her out - beeline for the garage door! At one of the vehicle doors, there's room for the cats to go under, and she tried four times, about a half hour ago.

I think that there's room enough for her to get under a door on the other side, so she'll likely find that soon, as she travels everywhere, and at breakneck speed (largely Jack Russel - is that terrier?).

She loves it here at the farm, for she can run a quarter of a mile, if she chooses - more than 100 feet that is her limit at the tiny park across the (quiet) street from my friend's apt.

My landlord and I had a laughing discussion of my escapades in getting out through the snowbanks on Wed. morning, when I almost got stuck in the yard, took off through the field, including a ploughed area ...and got stuck so that I had to dig myself out when trying to get back to the laneway near the road.

Dug out the track to the road, as the plough had thrown up some snow.

Also did some shovelling at the driveway to the insurance office, where the city plough had been by, as well.

Dug carefully and at measured pace, with stops for rest- not wanting any heart attacks, thanks.

Landlord was cleaning lane with tractor, slid off road, drove about 40 yards down the ditch, as he saw the County plough coming ... but he couldn't get out ... so the county guy pulled him out with the grader - all that an hour or so after I'd departed.

It seems that we both had lots of fun on Wed. morning!

We've had a couple of inches of snow, so far tonight.

I got enough milk to last for most of a week, the freezer's full, I can make my own bread for about 3 mos. (at least), have ice cream, and enough potatoes, beets, turnips and squash to last till spring - so no plans to go anywhere tomorrow (later today) or for a few days after - I have to plan ahead, arrange for a co-driver.

Will have to look for some more seniors nearby to maybe help - visited one nearby lady (relative of my relative from half a century ago) .. but she wasn't home.

Her dog barked, though - maybe I'd better call animal control! Imagine! Leaving your poor dog alone in the house!

It doesn't seem to be snowing now but it may have snowed a bit, or blown some, for most of her tracks from an hour or two ago were pretty well obliterated.

Yesterday was one of the big days of the year at Pearson International Airport, near Toronto, for a whole raft of people were bound for FL and other destinations - school spring break, next week and the following one.
