I love Leslie Sansone -- she has "Walk at Home" fitness for all levels.... teaches you the simple basic steps.... and motivates you along the way.

Many libraries have exercise DVDs that you can borrow -- look for her 1-mile Walk DVDs, and check out other "instructors" that may interest you too.

Also -- many cable services offer free "On Demand" at-home workouts. (Leslie Sansone used to be among them -- but not lately). Check these out too!

Oh my gosh, I made this same inquiry on another forum and three people right away recommended Leslie Sansone's DVD! I checked it out online and watched a preview video and I think it's the one I'm going to look for. I love to walk, used to do it alot and it really kept the weight off and made me feel so good. It almost became addictive. But now my road has become so busy that a person practically risks their life out there, plus I had dogs to take with me. That was another motivator - walking the dogs. No dogs now. :(

Over the summer I tend to lose weight because I do alot of mowing and heavy yard work; but over winter I tend to veg out. Thanks for the reply. Didn't know about the "On Demand" at-home workouts. Thanks for the heads up.

Found her videos on UTube! Bookmarked them and now trying to decide if I have enough space in this computer room to do the side stepping moves.

I have several of her dvd's. I think my favorite is the Walk At Home, Walk Slim 5 Really Big Miles. We participate in a group at the VA and the ages the group are from 30 to 75 and it is doable for all of us. I have six others, but I use this one most often. WalMart and Target have had good selections, but don't carry all of them. Good luck.

How do those DVD's work? You walk in front of the TV, or she trains you to walk outside? Or is it like an aerobics class? I've always wondered about that.

I've liked exercise DVD's over the years but find I get bored with them. When I broke my leg, I got a chair aerobics DVD and did it every day. There were 4-5 people on the DVD, and I felt like they were my new best friends! This has been 5 years ago, and I still remember each person and wonder how they are doing.

I did the first Leslie Sansone 14min.workout that's available on Utube awhile ago - 1 mile! Whew, my legs were burnin' by the time I was done. In fact I was still sweating like 20min. afterwards. Man, am I out of shape.

Don't know why, but I checked Richard Simmons page recently and he has a 'sit and be fit' one that I am going to order or look for. I used to love his music video tapes...think I still have them all. Not that I NEED to exercise (not)

You are all making me quilty. I haven't been on my treadmill for months. Guess I better get moving. I do have a few Leslie Sansone videos, so maybe I better put them back to good use again. I found my videos at Walmart in the exercise department. I lost about 20 lbs a few years ago by doing the reverse diet. I ate my dinner for breakfast and walked. That worked for me. Now I better get back on that kick because I could feel the pounds gathering around my waist.

I used the 14min.workout again this morning, but I could not make it through the second set of knee lifts! Oh man. I just walked. When I first began this morning my legs hurt but that went away soon enough. I really wish I had a good place to walk outside. A neighbor gets up each morning and drives to the local arboretum to walk but I'm not too keen on driving somewhere. It is a pretty place with great paths.

So instead I went out and picked up sticks in the orchard and puttered around for awhile with the weed whacker. But here I am sitting again.

I just did Leslie Sansone's 15 minute video on youtube. It was great!

socks, I just did the 14min., 1 mile, routine again. So that counts as 2 miles today right!? ha. Plus this time I didn't stop halfway through the second set of knee lifts or was it third set? Those are the hardest for me. Great stress reliever too.

Just wait until I start mowing yard again, I'll be in shape and ready to go!

Schoolhouse, are you going to buy Leslie Sansone DVD? I was thinking of it and emailed the site to ask which one (there are so many). I'm a senior who walks 1-2 miles a day so I think I can handle the distances and maybe more, I just don't like things when they go too fast.

I'm not sure if I'll buy or not. I was never a person to exercise, that is, in a gym or with videos because I was always so active outdoors and such plus just don't like to. I might consider buying Sansone's but for now I'm going to use the UTube videos. Next winter would be the ideal time for me to have the DVDs on hand because that's when I "rest" from all the garden work - rest too much.

I love to walk too, but like I keep saying, the road is so busy now it's not enjoyable. 1 -2 miles a day is great, it becomes almost addictive doesn't it? Always something new to see along the way and before you know it you're back home again.

Actually, I am so bored with walking my neighborhood! I've walked it since my now grown son was born when I pushed him in a stroller. I bet I've walked my neighborhood thousands of times. Sometimes I call my sister or a friend to talk on the phone when I walk. I sometimes go out in the car and stop at a park or some lovely neighborhood and walk. If I don't go out, I can spend some time with Leslie!

socks, that's true and also when you walk your neighborhood or in my case down the road, neighbors come out and want to talk or they stop their cars and chat for awhile. Sometimes I don't want to talk or make them feel like they have to wave. lol
