Well, I found a leak--drip, drip, drip, don't know how I missed it unless I made it when cranking on quick connect union (which is still jammed). My intake pipe is 2" and goes to 1.5" pump connect, glued in since there were no threads to connect otherwise. I recall but can't find, instructions from Mike_Il about applying glue over the leak and running the pump to suck glue in? Any recollection? I am envious everytime I see your tight, tidy pump house, wishing I had done way better, planned better, had the knowledge to do it. I may be looking at major pipe surgery here. Question now is "What do I do where the pipe is glued inside the pump intake and is too short with reduction fitting to add anything. Maybe I'll have to order a new housing and start from scratch! Meanwhile, back at the union coupling and back at the cornmeal I threw in for my pond leak. Maybe this is the price of misguided winter ponding...such is life. Mike

Resurrecting an old thread here: I'm inspecting my weeping hemlock for adelgid and for the most part I do not see any white fluffy spots. However, there are some very small amounts here and there. Also, I've cleared some brush out in the back yard to leave more space for a nice hemlock tree (maybe 15' high or so) that was starting to get crowded out. Apparently my neighbor planted it years ago on the property line (actually on my side). It looks healthy, but I'm seeing a good amount of white adelgid spots. What can I use this time of year (June) that will help both plants? I'm reading that oils and/or insecticidal soaps are safer but may not work as well. (Oils are only for the fall as well?). Does anybody have a recommendation for a foliar application they think will be effective?

Most how-to websites say just use use white vinegar - after physically cleaning the exterior. Colas has some phosphates. If you want to tinker, but only if you are a tinkerer, try some Coca Cola. Perhaps dilute a sugarless cola for the first try.

Give it a go. The compressor shouldn't be damaged. The noise may have been accumulated ice (from moisture intake with the door open) in contact with the interior circulation fan. Hopefully any excess frost/ice is melted clear by now.
