Wonderful! The moon looked huge as it was coming up last night.

Those are really good! The second one is very unusual. I just want to keep going back to study it. The cloud formation is fascinating.

I've tried to get good moon photos without much success. I blame the camera, but it's probably operator error.

I didn't know there was going to be an eclipse and just happened to be in Cumbria Saturday night - it was a bit of a shock when someone stepped outside to smoke and called us all out because the moon was turning red! It was totally clear and the best eclipse I've ever seen, although it started raining sometime around 3am and didn't stop the entire way back down to London!

Lucky for us, it was the perfect night to view the eclipse and the big Harvest Moon. I'd made chili, and we had a late dinner of it out on our back portal while we enjoyed the "show". We spend hours out there just talking and watching the eclipse unfold. At one point, DH went in and made us Cuba Libres. It was a wonderful, very special way to spend the evening. Will try again in, what, 33 more years?

Was just reading that it is also called the Beaver moon! When the trappers saw it they knew that it was time to set their traps to get warm furs for the winter.
