my problem is the toad that keeps getting into the WS containers that have their tops removed! 8-( She has already uprooted the artemesia stellariana seedlings, although I did manage to salvage some of them. She is now snuggly dug under my amaranthus pygmy torch seedlings. I really do love toads in the garden, especially under my hostas, I just don't want them in my containers of WS seedlings. I guess i need to get them in the ground! Try spraying a mix of ten parts water to one part Dettol around the freshly planted seedlings. Cats hate the smell and it has done the trick in keeping neighbourhood cats from using garbage cans, basement windows and shrubs, as their personal toilet. 8-)

At the time of Canada's hundredth anniversay in 1967, our son was about 5-1/2 and daughter about 2-1/2 and Sue and I went with MIL to Montreal to share in the great experience: I'd have loved to have taken our children, had they been a bit older and could have appreciated it. But that was more of an experience than an adventure. I've encouraged our children to have a wide-ranging, adventurous spirit and to be curious about this wonderful world in which we live. Daughter went on an exchange scholarship to Germany near the end of High School, and enjoyed it ... including travelling to various parts of Europe and to North Africa. When they were about 10 and 7 they drove with me from southern Ontario to Thunder Bay, at the north end of Lake Superior, then flew back home alone while I travelled to the Prairies. As I consider this, I regret that I did not take them on more venturesome activities - but they have been involved in such things, on their own. Folks who lack a venturesome spirit ... ... miss out on a lot of interesting, challenging and memorable experiences in life. Broaden your horizons, folks ... you'll find when you go to various parts of the world, including rather primitive places, that folks are friendly ... and generous. Many who have little have a less acquisitive - and more friendly - spirit. ole joyful.

I'm not sure whether it's hard water; I'll have to look at the info on our water-provider's web site or ask a neighbor. Cavimum -- you know, I wrote that I use liquid All. But then, yesterday in fact, I went into the laundry closet for something and noticed my container of Borax -- which I've used for cleaning the toilet but then decided a few times to add to my washing load of white sheets. So it's possible, I'm thinking, that there may have been a bit of leftover borax that clung to the outside of the drum and didn't get washed away in the 2 rinse cycles. Although in those white sheets/detergent/and a bit of borax cycles, I used hot water. (The dog sleeps on the bed, so ...) I did a cycle with a bit of detergent and white vinegar. We'll see what the next load turns out like! (But I'm still stumped as to why the lint-or-whatever-it-was always gravitated to the shoulder line and not other places on the tops! So weird!)

I can't stand that when it happens, they expect you to go all the way back there to get the right order. I had ordered one time a large order and had to pull over as we were in drive through and wait quite awhile and others did too. Finally I get the bag and I put it beside me and took off and got home and opened up the bag and had to pack the child I was looking after back in the car and drive back as got someone's tiny order, they must have loved our big order. It takes time to do to and yes, we aren't all close by either to drive back and then home again. they are the ones that need to check the bags before handing them to the person and making sure the order is correct.
