Thanks Carla. I just wish we could edit our posts. Even this last one, I wish I could, but I will not ask Garden Web to do it again for me. Of course the above post is a close copy of the last one that I had posted here on the subject. I copied it from the one I posted to my friends on our B&B board. I should have edited it first I guess. I did have one reply from Florence on this particular post, but as I said, it was pulled. Anyway our grandson did come at Christmas to us and we had a great time with him, as well as some good visits with our Daugher Louise and Ryan's cousins. It was a great Christmas. His dad, our son also got permission to have a visit with him at our house. It went very well. Neither Ryan or us had seen him for a few years. We keep in touch with him (Ryan) by phone and a couple of weeks ago visited the foster parents in Victoria who had come to the island for a short vacation. Anyway, after my first posts on this subject, which was received with encouragement and kindness, I just wanted to update you. Will tell more aftr the JDR in Edmonton on 13th March. Pauline

When my kids were very little (before being able to read), I had different paper for each child. Then my husband and I could relax on the couch and they would know which gifts they could open without us having to read the tag on each one. (Am I lazy or what? ) It also makes wrapping go much faster if you have the gifts presorted by person and don't have to change paper for each gift. In our family, Santa brings each child one big thing and the rest of the gifts are from mom and dad. I buy special paper for the gifts from Santa (usually with pictures of Santa on it). I make gift tags with "special" writing and these gifts are placed under the tree separately for the other gifts. That paper never makes another appearance. Santa also leaves each child a letter about their behavior and accomplishments for the past year. It's getting harder to pull this off each year. Happy Holidays!

That had to be a wonderful time! Merry Christmas! DH has taken me, twice, to see the Nutcracker. He dresses up and everything. It is so not his style, and his idea of high fashion carries the Carhart label, but he makes it a fun evening for me. Things like this are wonderful gifts. I've got to get him a catfishing trip or something.

Someone said that her "friend" was troubling her by checking her machine ... ... to learn that that person's friend elsewhere - was having a haircut! Seems to me that the person being thus ignored ... was getting clipped, as well. How about suggesting that one tie her hands, hobble her and put a blindfold on her, for the length of time that she absented herself to do the texting and, as far as she was concerned, done something like that to her friend-being-ignored while so doing. As for the guy who'd spent a minute and a half texting at table after being told to not ... I think that I'd tell him that, since he'd shut his brain off as far as we were concerned for a minute and a half ... that he was forbidden from eating for a minute and a half, after the texting finished. But that'd be no help - he'd just do more texting, the turkey (while his turkey was getting cold). Or - banish him to another room, immediately, to do his texting there: no more supper! That should set the fox among the chickens! ole joyful
