Living in the Mid-Atlantic--WV's Eastern Panhandle--maybe it was a stretch to write "ski resort", but it does have skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. The place is White Tail, just over the PA line from MD and about 30 minutes away from me in WV. It's just enough farther north and higher in elevation that when it gets really cold, s - - - can be made. At night, it's neat to get on I-81 in WV and see the lighted slopes in PA. I confess that I use the tubing runs; that way, if I fall, I'm pretty close to the ground. :>) It's still fun.

If it flopped over already this year after being moved last year, it makes me think perhaps your soil is to rich. Did you add a lot of compost or fertilize? They do better with a lean soil. Also if you had a lot of rain, it might cause them to flop. That said, when you;re ready to divide, just dig up the clump and cut or pull apart into pieces. Though I've occasionally done it in fall it's far easier in the spring when the plants are just breaking dormancy.

As indestructible as this plant is, I would simply stick a spade down in the middle of the plant and dig around one half of the plant and remove it and plant it where you want it to be. Just realize that your division will have to be continously repeated periodically every couple of years as it will grow back to its former dimensions in short order.

As much as I would love to believe you I am certain you are mistaken. I hope you took pictures. Goose neck gourds and ornamental gourd are completely different species and can't cross pollinate let alone be on the same vine. I'd believe you had 3 or 4 vines in the same spot that may have looked like one vine just because they were close to each other. That would be really cool if it was true! You can only get one type of gourd per vine. Though the first gourd on the vine can sometimes be a different color (i.e. solid green instead of bicolor) but still the same size and shape.
