Do you like Clams?

I think Clams are kind of and East Coast/New England type food.

This sounds good. I've tried plan Clam Chowder in a can and thought it was yuck.

CORN CHOWDER

1 can cream of celery soup

1 can cream of potato soup

1 can whole kernel corn

2 c. Half and Half

Salt and pepper to taste

1 can New England clam chowder

Combine all ingredients in large saucepan. Heat to blend, eat with crackers.

I love clams! I used to live in Pismo Beach, home of the famous Pismo Clams. We used to be able to go clamming and catch our limit years ago but the sea otters and illegal clammers from out of the are have largely ruined the clamming here.
I am picky about my clam chowder but find a lot of good New England clam chowder in the area.
I have never tried corn chowder and don't think I could eat it.

Home Cookin Chapter: Recipes From Thibeault's Table Linguine with White Clam Sauce ============================== Posted by: Cindy_5ny (My Page) Linguine with White Clam Sauce 2 T butter 2 T olive oil 2-3 cloves garlic, minced 1/4 cup minced onion or shallot 1 tsp flour 1/4 - 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 cup white wine Oregano to taste 1/4 tsp Tabasco, or dash ground red pepper 3 doz clams, minced and any juice* Fresh grated Parmesan 8 oz linguine, cooked Saute onion and garlic in butter and oil until soft but not brown. Stir in flour until smooth. Add remaining sauce ingredients and clams and cook, do not boil, for 15 minutes. Serve over linguine, top with parmesan, if desired. *You can prepare the garlic wine sauce, add whole clams (well scrubbed), cover and steam the clams while the sauce is cooking, and serve over pasta in the shells. This batch we had was pretty gritty, so we steamed and removed the clams from the shells before adding to the sauce. I also did not mince them, since they were pretty small to begin with. NOTES: I use fresh clams. 2 to 3 pounds 1 to 2 tablespoons flour (depends on how much sauce you want) 1/2 cup white wine 1 to 1 1/2 cups chicken broth 1/2 to 1 teaspoon dried oregano. I sautÃ© the shallots and the garlic and then I add a couple of tablespoons of flour. Cook for a few minutes and then add a splash of white wine and at least a cup of chicken broth. Homemade or canned, either works. When the sauce thickens I add some dried oregano and pinch of cayenne pepper. Salt and Pepper. I have only made this with fresh clams and I don't add them to the pan until the pasta is just about cooked. They only take a few minutes to open. Toss with fresh chopped parsley and fresh grated Parmesan cheese. I never would have thought that Parmesan cheese would work with these, but it is wonderful with the clams. Another favourite is to toss fresh clams still in their shells in to a quick marinara sauce made with fresh or good quality Italian tomatoes, lots and lots of fresh garlic, and fresh basil. The clams only take a few minutes to cook so just add them to the sauce a minute or two before serving.

I had the Golden spreader for more than 10 yrs and it's older than 15 yrs. Maybe what you said is correct. After 3 straight days of rain I noticed it got stressed out and then started going down. I think that could be the cause. The blue Cedar (Cedrus Atlantica 'Fastigiata") is new. In a pot, and buried in the ground to control the growth rate. For container mix? I'm not a pro but after many tries I came up with a formula: 2 part pine part (medium size), 2 part peat moss, 1 part tufa and 2 part top soil. I got some plants die and some do just fine... so I'm not sure my formula is right or wrong ;-).

We did this in a showroom, on an island that we used to set up buffets. Yes, people snagged their fuzzy sweater type clothes on it, and yes, it was difficult to clean. Requires a scrub brush, lots of towels, and a directed spray of clean water to rinse. Thus the towels, to keep the water off of the cabinets. The great chocolate syrup spill during our ice cream sundae gathering was a pain to get it looking right again.

Sorry for the yellowed image, it's gloomy outside today, but this is the view from the eating area in our kitchen. Here is where we eat 95% of our meals during cool or super hot weather, if it's mild or warm, we eat out side at the table. Our dining room is for larger gatherings. I love it there too, but rarely would the two of us choose to eat there alone. I've cleaned up the table so that the bottles of vitamins, supplements and Kleenex box are on the island, normally they live at DH's place! The tv is on the counter, to the right of the table. DH hates it being on in the mornings because it disturbs his reading of the paper, however we are usually watching the news or Jeopardy during dinner. Rarely do we eat in the den. We just don't find it comfortable to hang over the low coffee table while sitting on the sofa. Although that said, DH takes a tray in there when I'm having a Mahjongg game at the kitchen table. DD moved to Georgia and has the above areas and a darling screened in porch. I think that would be the best of both worlds.

I am not overly fond of canned Clam Chowder, but really like home made. I grew up eating clam and corn chowders.

In my youth I enjoyed clams in chowder, fried, and in a pasta sauce I used to make. In my late 20's I developed a bad allergy to them and haven't been able to eat them since.

I like fried clams and clam chowder that isn't strong tasting. Never had corn chowder w/clams in it but I'm looking for a good scratch recipe for corn chowder w/ chicken stock base. Grinch do you have one?

I used to really like Clam Chowder back when I was a waitress. Sambos had some good soups! You'll think I'm stupid, but does clam chowder have potatoes in it or were those clams?

I haven't ate it since then (and that was over 20 years ago). I don't eat much seafood or fish for that matter.

Clams! Clams! Clams! Yes! I love fried Ipswich clams, New England clam chowder, corn chowder, Clams Oreganata, clam dip, raw with seafood sauce, steamed with drawn butter, linguine with white clam sauce. I could go on and on. I love clams. I'm a New England girl at heart.

Yes I love clams. On our first date we went to Woodman's clam shack in Essex MA. They are known as the home of the fried clam. It's an eat in the rough kinda place, oilcloth on the tables. In the summer you needed a shoe horn to fit in the building and hope you could find a table. I'm not a fan of chowda from a can. I make my own with whole clams and heavy cream. Oh and you have to have Oysterettes and a pat of butter floating on top.

LOVE THEM..steamed mainly. During all 3 pregnancies-that is all I craved and to this day-all 3 kids love them too!
Having cooked clam chowder in restaurants for 35 years-and now living in FL-I have a BIG distaste for New England chowder-as that is ALL they serve here! Most places make it so thick-I hate it that way-mine was more of a milky chowder.
I love to make my own Manhattan Clam Chowder. Oh for the days when one could go to a 'Clambake' for a wenty dollar bill and eat all of the steamed or raw clams you could handle! Nowadays-they 'issue you' a bag or two and that's all. Waaah!

I grew up going to Pismo Beach in CA and digging for clams. My mom would make fried clams for breakfast and fresh clam chowder. I also liked buying fresh clams and steaming them. I don't care for canned soups but I do like to use a couple of cans of chopped or minced clams to heat up in butter and garlic and pour over pasta. Yummy.

For those of you who like the store bought chowder? My favorite seafood restaurant here on the beach is Crabby Bill's-awesome food! In fact-I will ONLY eat his New England Clam Chowder! He even sells his special chowder online!
OH! This past Wednesday-my lifelong BFF was in town & we took them there for Lobster They have some new menus now and there are pictures on the back of the menu-one of which is his new outdoor bar/restaurant called the Loading Dock. My eyes popped when I saw Ernie & I in the one photo-on opening day of the place!!

I like clam chowder but don't really like clams by themselves. Clams are pretty big here in the northwest too. Oysters are a little more popular though (blech)!
