I am totally into photography. I highly recommend a Canon brand SLR. The least expensive is the Rebel, and there are several models of the Rebel available, generally for around $600-700. I guarantee for the price they will blow you away with features, quality, etc. And a nice site to checkout is http://photo.net/ that has forums and other stuff. And http://www.dpreview.com/ which has digital camera reviews, unbiased. A tip, very very important, in fact critical. You MUST use a tripod or the photos will not be the best they can be. Get the best tripod you can afford, I recommend a ballhead for the tripod head. And a cable release too, which you can get for probably less than $50.

Lol, thank you all, I'm glad you enjoyed my story. Yes, I had fun! I'd encourage anyone thinking of showing to get out there and give it a go. I've been encouraged by other's posts on here about their first shows, including buford's (lovely arrangement, btw!). So hopefully others will be encouraged by mine. :-) It was the West Jersey show, Diane. It was a bit larger show than I had expected, and there were so many gorgeous roses, so it was great to take time to study the exhibitions. I wasn't able to make the show this weekend because I was away, unfortunately. Thanks seil for the cutting tips, it's been from your posts that I learned a little about cutting for show. I'll definitely keep the other tips you shared in mind for the next show! I did join a local society the other day, though not the one that ran the show. They seem to be a great group of people, I just wish I lived closer. I haven't loaded them on the computer yet, but I'll try to post some pictures soon for those of you who asked to see them.

To clarify the question: The projector was for presentations of images that I have already. I went digital several yrs ago and have found that transfering the images to slides for presentations is an inconvenience and hassle that could be avoided by getting a projector. I realise from the progression in camera ability that the projectors are going to change in the future too, hence the thought of buying a relatively cheap projector. The reviews seem to be mostly geared to how they portray dvds in different rooms which is not a concern for me, but highlights the developement of these things for the domestic market rather than the commercial presentation market. The good news is that I still have the original cards and can copy them direct to the gold ones and still tinker with the 'original' at will. And they said I was dumb to keep the cards! Technology is moving way too fast at times and I am no whiz at keeping up with the photo correction programs.

I have subscribed to various ones over the years, recently many of them have decided to go only digital and no longer print magazines, that is very disappointing to me because I enjoy holding and reading a magazine. I had issues still left on my subscription and they offered to either continue on with the digital copy or move me over to another of the print magazines which is what I decided to do, however I never received a single one so guess I just got screwed out of them. You should check out several and see which ones best hit your interest level and knowledge level, some are just way too techy and some are more focused on stuff that is really not of interest. And since most do have a digital copy online you can take a look at. I have had all of the ones you mentioned at one time and enjoyed them.
