A follow-up. The eggs have hatched. After extensive research and a post to some good folks at a bug identification website that I frequent, I can positively say I have caterpillars of both species. I am just going to let them live. I can't bring myself to destroy them and chances are, they won't survive long on their own as adults up here, so there is little chance of invasion (although I would never consider them invasive, even if they are not native here).

Thanks for being more specific Tom! I need to start using the Latin names as well as the common names. Jane, The one that grows wild around here is Passiflora Incarnata, purple passion vine. I'm lucky that the Florida Museum of Natural History in Gainesville about half an hour from me has butterfly host and nectar plants for sale every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The plants offered change every week but they almost always have some variety of Passiflora (this week they have corky stemmed). Rhonda
