Purple, the bench is actually a swing, and it faces a small fire pit. To the right is a hosta garden, and ahead to the right of the birdbath and under the cypress tree (where nothing is blooming but the lilies) are planted ferns and Spring blooming natives. Grapes growing on the fence! Asleep, the water garden is a 110 gallon water trough for cattle that I got at the farm store. It used to have a nice little fountain in it, but after our dog took the second one out in the yard and chewed it up, I gave up and now just keep a few small fish in with the water lilies.

It sure looks like one from the bottom. If I could see a side view, it would help, but I doubt if you can climb up a ladder to get a good photo, huh? It is possible that it is a moth cocoon, but most encsse their pupa in a papery sack that is fastened to limbs or branches of trees, rather than suspending them from a ledge or something similar. One of the many orb weavers but obviously not currently in her web. She's quite pretty, isn't she? The orb weavers make a large flat web that resembles a multi-spoked wagon wheel. The spider hangs upside down in the center during the evening but usually hides during the daytime, staying somewhere to the side of the web.

Fairy, when I want to post a picture, I first get it on my own screen as large as possible. THEN I do the thing with the image address etc. Then I usually need to REDUCE the size in the post (put width=600 or so in it). I use ImageCave which is a little different than Photobucket or Yahoo, but the principle might be the same? Maybe you posted a thumbnail pic. Mary
