we are on the Snake River, in Pine County. It flows into Cross Lake, then into the St. Croix on the MN/WI border, about 17 miles east of us.

Thanks Joan. That is pretty country up there. A couple years ago DW and I went through there to Duluth for a long weekend. DW is from Galveston, TX so Lake Superior was big hit with her. A body of water to big to see across.

Yes, it's pretty. And Hwy 61, north of Duluth, is just drop-dead gorgeous! Just like it is in southern, MN.

Hi Ron! I'm not new on GW (been here since 2002) but I am pretty new on KT (last several months). I've never been to Joel's Greenhouse. Actually, I never happened to get past Pine Island in all my greenhouse trips. I'd definitely like the tour, so if we're going to make it to Rochester for more than a day or two I'll let you know. Usually it's a mad rush, between meeting up with my son and daughter-in-law and maybe a friend or so from work, but we really want to stay over a little longer sometime this next spring or summer so I might just be able to manage it. Greenhouse 'hopping' is one of my favorite passtimes :-)

I haven't been beyond Two Harbors in years. Long, long ago ('76) I went to Grand Marias and took the ferry out to Isle Royale for a week of backpacking. Fantastic scenery on both the drive there and the island.

Isle Royale is one place I haven't been. DH says it's wonderful. We talk about it, but...I'd like to go just to hear the wolves howling!
