Possible to install Cover Control disposer on a Shaw Sink?
Comments (1)a cover activated disposal does not require another switch, it's in the flange and stopper. If you Shaw's sink and your cabinetry will accomodate that disposal then it'll work. You'll just have to get the spec. sheets on the disposal, the sink , and your cabinets and do the math from the measurements....See MoreAny batch-feed disposals have a SS cover/stopper?
Comments (19)Eleeny - what a fabulous find in Mountain Plumbing! I didn't think anyone other than Waste King and Insinkerator made batch feeds anymore. Furthermore, Waste King moved their manufacturing from US to China a couple of years ago, and I am concerned that their quality isn't what my older Waste King is which was from their factory in the U.S. Also, I noticed Mountain Plumbing is offering a warranty on their batch feed similar to Waste King's - an in-home lifetime warranty (but you must provide the original receipt), which is what I'd always found impressive about Waste King. Pricing seems competitive too, given that it's a 1 hp. I am linking below to Quality Bath's website; they're an authorized dealer, and also have a 110% price guaranty. It looks large. Make sure you have room for it under your sink whereby its outlet is higher than the plumbing. Ca_mom - in answer to your question, sometimes I keep the stopper either on the back corner of my sink, or in the sink. But most of the time it's in its place in the drain. Note that the stopper, when not turning the disposer on and off, acts like any other drain stopper. You can turn it so that it allows water to flow down the drain, while straining any large items from going down the drain, or give a half-turn to the stopper which will tighten it in the drain so that it stops the water if you want to fill the sink. Comments (2)What kind of new obnoxious noise? I'm thinking splashing/gurgling or wet sucking sounds as amoung the possible. If you can post a photo of the under-sink plumbing it might help with recommendations. How long did you have to wait for glue to dry? It should have been near-instantaneous, and the plumber should have been able to check the quality of his work before he left. Filter??? Comments (16)In order to use a Waste King disposal with a Rohl Shaw's sink (or any sink thicker than 3/4" for that matter) you will need to use an ISE flange and an adapter. I just installed mine after trying many different flanges, and finally found this solution: Parts you will need: 1. Extended ISE compatible flange (part #FLG-SSLG) 2. Waste King 3-Bolt Mount Adapter (part #3101) 3. ISE Quick Lock Mounting Flange (part #QLM-00) 4. ISE body flange (part #5298) 5. EZ-Mount Waste King disposal (I used the Waste King L-8000) I ordered all of these parts on amazon. Installation: 1. install the ISE Quick Lock Mounting Flange per the package instructions, except substitute the ISE extended flange. 2. Next assemble the adapter portion -- in order from top to bottom: splash guard (from 3-bolt adapter kit), ISE body flange, adapter (from 3-bolt adapter kit), mount ring (included with disposal). I found it helped to smear a small amount of dish soap between the splash guard and mount ring or else there was too much friction between the two. Press this whole assembly onto the flange installed in step 1 and twist the mount ring to lock into place. 3. Garbage disposal will now twist into place on the mount ring. See my assembled disposal below:...See MoreRelated Professionals
