We love salmon patties! When I was a kid my mom used bones,skin and all.We ate them so I guess they were OK.I always take out the dark skin and the bones because my family never liked them.I always use the juice.How do you make yours?
I drain off the juice into a measuring cup,then take out the bones and skin and squish up the salmon with my hands.I add 1 tsp. baking powder to the juice,stir it up and set aside.I add an egg(one to each large can) to the salmon and mix it up then add the juice and mix.Sometimes I add minced onion but not always cause DH doesn't like the onion.I usually just season with a little salt,pepper,onion powder and garlic powder.Then I add yellow cornmeal and flour,more cornmeal than flour,until it sticks together.Then form into patties and fry in a little oil.The baking powder makes the patties kind of fluffy.Really good. My aunt use to make them with cracker crumbs but I didn't really like them that way.

No bones here. In fact I buy the pouches that have no bones and no skin. 2 of the pouches mixed with cracker crumbs and eggs will make 3 good sized patties.

I don't eat canned salmon. Nasty stuff. I love fresh salmon either grilled or smoked.

I love canned salmon and prefer the red, also make salmon patties (like Mom used to); and I also make salmon soup - bones and all. My SO used to freak out the times I made patties or soup and he saw me eating the bones. He picked them out!

When making patties, I just add cracker crumbs and fry in olive oil until brown on both sides. For the soup, I add par boiled cubed potatoes, milk, a little salt and lots of black pepper. Then I let a half stick of butter melt into it as it simmers - never boil.

I sometimes use mashed potatoes in my patties. Tonite I used bread crumbs, egg, some prepared mustard and hot sauce. Fry them in some vegetable oil. Love them, sans bones.

Yes, I eat the bones. I can't see any reason not too as when they are mashed for salmon patties and fried you don't even know they are there. I prefer red salmon but occasionally will use pink.

I haven't eaten canned salmon in many years, but when I did, I always liked to eat the bones.

Always mash and eat the bones with the salmon and probably should eat the fatty skin because of the omega 3 fatty acid but I give it to the dog and cat along with the juice.

I love canned salmon and this week Cloverleaf Wild Red Pacific is on sale for 1.99 a tin so I will be stocking my cupboard. Love salmon patties, salmon loaf and I even make a warm salmon sandwich using french toast. I also use canned salmon in a pasta salad instead of tuna. Creamed salmon on toast is good too but I don't have it very often.

I don't eat salmon...canned or otherwise. I don't eat tuna...canned or otherwise either. Icky, icky, icky. LOL I am not big on fish, unless it's trout or catfish.

I just had "tuna" salad yesterday, made with canned salmon, celery, onions, dill, parsley, celery seed, black pepper, hot red pepper, mustard, and mayo.

I drain the salmon (Harry and Sam get the 'juice') but everything else, skin, bones, dark meat, etc. gets ground into the salad.

I throw out the bones, my Mom eats them. My cat won't eat any raw fish, she's too spoiled. Loves Fancy FeasT only.

I would say yes, it has been a long time since I have fixed salmon patties. I do not care for the fresh salmon.

I love salmon patties but I don't like to use the bones.....infact I rarely buy canned salmon any more because I love blackened salmon and I buy it frozen and always cook extra so I can make patties.

Yes. It's not like "eating bones" because you almost can't find them! Love salmon in any way, shape or form.

If you ask my family this question they will say no, they don't eat bones & skin. So, don't ask them. What do they know? By the time my salmon patties get to the table, you can't see any of that and you get the benefit of all those vitamins and minerals thrown away with the bones & skin. You really can't taste the difference.

I buy the small cans of wild salmon that don't have any bones or skin. I often eat it straight from the can, I like it and it's good for me. I also use it for patties and to top salads.

I used to buy the larger cans that had skin and bones. I would remove the largest bones and skin but left the smaller bones in. But if you don't like them, remove them.

you could find some, but it is mostly cooked.

best tasting salmon is wild, not farmed
and has to be taken care of immediatly after
catching. Must be bled right away and put on ice.
not just in a cooler, but on ice. Makes a big
difference.
