Here it is and it came out perfect for me. Did you maybe forget the butter?

Peach Cobbler Dump Cake
1 (18.25-ounce) package yellow cake mix
1 (32-ounce) can sliced peaches in heavy syrup
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
Ground cinnamon for sprinkling
Vanilla ice cream or sweetened whipped cream for accompaniment
Preheat oven to 375*F (190*C).
Pour peaches along with the syrup into the bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Sprinkle evenly with the dry cake mix and press down firmly. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix. Sprinkle top lightly with cinnamon.
Bake for 45 minutes. Serve warm or cool with vanilla ice cream or sweetened whipped cream if desired.
Makes 12 servings.

Hope you didn't drain the peaches!

This is from a recipe book published by the Kentucky Education Association in 1969. My DH got it for me when he was at a NEA Convention. I've used it a gazillion times, as recently as 3 weeks ago.

Ten Dollar Fruit Pie
1 stick butter
1 quart sweetened fruit
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 cup milk
2 tsp baking powder
ý tsp salt

Melt butter in a large baking dish. Heat sweetened fruit (*or use canned, including juice.)

Make a batter from remaining ingredients. Pour batter into melted butter. Pour fruit on batter.

Bake at 350ð for 40-45 minutes. Crust will rise to top. Serve hot.

*I use canned and prefer sliced to halves.

It got it's name because according to legend, it was one of those recipes someone asked for in a restaurant and then was charged for.

Sue-That is the recipe I have used for years.I got it from one of the ladies in my church about 30 years ago but it was called "Magic Cobbler".Any canned fruit with juice can be used.I have even used the canned pie filling and add some water or fruit juice to it for the liquid.I don't heat the fruit.
If anyone hasn't made this they really should give it a try!

This reminds me of a joke. The cook complined that her cookines were too runny and did not bake as expected. The person who gave her the recipe reviewed it with her and when they came to the flour, the cook said, "I used 2 one-half cups of flour just like it said." The reviewer said, "No. That's 2 and 1/2 cups of flour." The cook rebutted saying look, "it says 2 one-half cups."

I've also heard this called Cowboy Cobbler. The first time I ever had it was on a camp out and it was cooked on the campfire in a cast iron dutch oven. Was really delicious out under the stars.

Minnie, I just read your post and wondered if you used the BIG can of peaches (32 oz.) or perhaps the smaller 16 oz. size? The recipe that I have calls for two cans of peaches but it's the smaller size. Just wondering if that may be the problem. I've never had any problem with this recipe being too dry. Sorry yours was disappointing.

Minnie, did you "press down firmly" after sprinkling the cake mix over the peaches? I use a pan spatula to press the dry mix into the peaches.

Yes I did I might make it again later on 'cause it sounds so delicious.

Minnie, when I make my dump cakes I leave out the butter.

Use a cake mix that has NO PUDDING in the mix. Duncan Hines is what I use.

I've never made it with peaches, but I make it all the
time with pineapple OR mixed fruit.
I find that it always works out best by

Mix the can of fruit into the cake mix. Pour in to a
9X13 pan and bake ... what ever the box says..
I bake 325 for about an hour.

I would think that the smaller the peach bits, the better it would mixl up.

I add a can of pineapple to the mix
or a can of mixed fruit.

I've tried low sugar cherry pie, but it works best
when you mix the cake mix with a white soda, pour 3/4 of that into the cake pan, spoon the cherry pie mix over the top and then spoon the remaining cake mix over that and bake.

Pour some of the Costco 3 berry mix into a 9 X 13 cake pan. Add a 12 oz can of white pop to cake mix, stir and then pour over top of berries. Bake for an hour or so and makes a great cobbler

I bet you could put the peaches on the bottom, then add clear soda to cake mix... (fresca works well) stir and pour over peaches, cook for about an hour or a little less.

I was thinking, the peaches have more juice, well, sugary syrup than the frozen berries, so you might want to drain some of it out. I would also use peaches in their own juice, or light juice. but that's just me, You might be able to add some of the juice to the mix and subtract that same amount of soda.... but I'm not sure the rising action would be the same.

Well, dump cake sounded so good I had to make one. I made cherry using cherry pie filling, a can of crushed pineapple with the juice, yellow cake mix (with pudding so I hope it turns out), 2 sticks of butter and a cup each of coconut and walnuts sprinkled on top.

I bet a spice cake mix with apple pie filling would be good, too--maybe drizzle some caramel syrup over it when it's about done.

To ME, op, cobbler is supposed to be liquidie! At least that is the way they are here, and way I grew up with them.
And the peach cobbler dump cake, I posted, was perfect.

patti, I have an awesome chocolate dump cake. Made it lots and lots! NOT low calorie at all!

Chocolate dump cake

1 devils food cake mix
1 reg size pkg instant chocolate pudding
1 small bag chocolate chips
1 8 oz sour cream'
1 cup oil
4 eggs slightly beaten

Mix all of the above together
Pour into a greased and floured bundt pan
Bake 350 for 55 minutes

Wow, that chocolate cake HAS to be good--4 eggs. I will try that next :-)

I was think more about using Comstock chocolate pie filling on the bottom, then maybe some mini-marshmallows, then the dry cake mix and then butter. It might need some more liquid, though.

Kat, I've made several of the cakes that call for a can of soda when Harry was going to Weight Watchers. I think you use something like 7-Up for light colored cake mixes and Coke for dark cakes--been a while since I've done that, so thanks for the reminder. You'd never believe just those two ingredients would make a great cake.

Sometimes I wonder why somebody decided to put a can of soda in a cake mix and bake it--haha!

DH and I are in LOVE with the peach dump cake. You bet your bottom dollar I'm making the chocolate one this weekend!

I have made the recipe Glenda posted, but it was called something else, can't think right now what it's title was. Good though whatever you call it. I have made the cherry dump cake with the cherry pie filling, crushed pineapple and pecans. Mike calls it "Dump Truck" cake. It is also good.
