One suggestion would be to look at DalTile mosaics. You can build your own custom blends to order. So you could pick 70% white, 20% black, 10% blue. That would be something a homeowner could have done in the 1950s. http://www.daltile.com Their website is bad and their customer service is worse IMHO, but they do have the authentic tile used in original MCM homes. Another route you could take would be to get cement tile floors in custom colors. Granada tile has a gorgeous blue pigment. You could design a pattern using blue/black/white from them. They have several geometric patterns that I think would work well in an MCM home. Their customer service is very good. http://www.granadatile.com

I caught from Elmo on(after he already had his "bib" on..it was a lot of laughs! It was a very enjoyable show..and that Baby Jack...what a DOLL!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys, that's definitely food for thought. Willtv, I like how clean that looks. We were thinking about having some kind of accent strip running lengthwise, but your backsplash works nicely and your kitchen is very similar to ours in terms of colour scheme. Babbaca, we do have stainless steel appliances and have been considering having that accent strip be some kind of glass tile. The ones that are mostly black look nice in those kitchens, but I'm not sure that they would work in ours as we're trying to keep things bright. But thanks for sharing the pictures, they do look lovely. I'll post some pictures of the kitchen so far tomorrow if I get some time.

Cabinet fronts date the room. Would replace w/ white or cream, slab fronts in place of those dark dust-catchers, repainting the frames, and no need for the TOWELS lettering, people know. I think the rest is fine really for now. I had a really ugly top to a living room bookcase, a “planter” top. I wanted it off! Woulda required a lotta other work beside and behind where it was. Designer said we hadda lotta other things needing done first. He was right. The rest of your room is clean, serviceable, light, and really quite soothing. Just change the cabinet fronts and trash those letters. No need to chase trends. Onward!
