I bet you'll develop some new muscles in that right arm too (assuming you are right handed). Sounds like a good job, lots to do. Do you like interacting with the customers?

Scooping ice cream is not as easy as it looks! I've watched grown men struggle with it. Good thing you're in good shape.

I have always "HATED" scooping ice cream, it's so hard!!!!The first few days of a new job is usually the best, just learning and getting the feel of things. That will change quick enough. I know all about that being hungry after working in food. You never can eat when your hungry and even harder to get to the restroom. I hope you like it and stick to it, it will get easier as time goes by, believe me.

That sounds like a great job for you. If you do well, and knowing you, I'm sure you will, they may have you working full-time within 2 weeks!

I think when most people come in, they decide ahead of time that they are "going to try something different" but after looking around -- they pick out their favorite one that they always get. That assumption is based on my own way of visiting an ice cream store!

I used to work for Laura Secord Candy Shops. One side was the chocolate, candy and nuts, the other side was ice cream. YUM! It could be difficult if the freezers were too cold. It was like scooping some rock off of a boulder. But it was fun.

I scooped ice cream for two years in the early 1990s. I still have problems with my right wrist from all the twisting of my right wrist. Make sure you practice the "correct" technique- hopefully they actually have a correct technique now! LOL

We were allowed two kid size scoops each day we worked and all the soft drink we wanted. Those 8 hours days can be very tiring and you go home an exhausted, sticky, sickeningly sweet smelling blob- but it put me through college the first time and paid for my first car all without taking out loans so I am happy I did it. Probably a good thing that I could not eat most of the ice cream at the time- I have lactose issues and they only had a couple of flavors that were "light milk".

Have fun and if you get the chance, decorating ice cream cakes is FUN, especially learning how to make the roses!

I always feel sorry for a 'Greeny' on a job. If some one is waiting on me who is new to the job, I try to say a work of encouragement. Years ago I worked at a Country Kitchen restaurant and for the first two weeks we had to wear a trainee button. Years later when a day at work wasn;t going so well, I wished for that trainee button again. LOL

In a week or so, Oklamoni, you'll be a pro at the new job.

Now here in my State you get time and a half for sunday work does that apply in Ok. too?

I'm curious. On the everything you eat that gets deducted from your pay, are they itemizing each item you buy or do you just get a set amount taken out for each shift you work? The reason I'm asking is that when I worked at a pizza place 20+ years ago, I thought we just got charged for eating there. I ate at home and came in. Later, I found out we had a set amount deducted from our paycheck for every shift we worked because the company just assumed we we getting a meal or snack every time. After that, I just made sure to fix myself a small pizza and take it home after every shift if I didn't eat there since I was getting charged for it. My brothers had great snacks for almost a full year while I worked there.
