Help Nightime pictures

I am back again. I have a Canon Xti with a 70-300 Canon zoom lense. I have tried a lot of settings and just can't seem to get the right one. The best luck I have had is the auto normal setting using the flash. I know the flash doesn't reach out there but it must open the lense up some.

I have the following modes beside the suto ones. P, TV, Av, and M. I have tried some of these but probably haven't been setting the right

I am sitting up in the stands, (I am lucky I get that far)

so won't be getting any closer.

Flash really is useless in this situation, sure, flash will come on when using auto because of low light
situation.
I would put it on TV mode, setting ISO starting at 400, go higher up to 800 or 1000, but you will have some noise. Set shutter speed at 1/250, if subjects are not sharp, go up to 1/500 or more.

Really don't know anything about flash...I tried shooting when the Harvest Moon was here and alot came out grainy...and the moon came out white...Even in the night setting...but I suspect that's intended for like street or city lights...Sorry I wasn't much helpful, June, but I'm interested in what answers you get....
I'm trying that tip, Konrad...

TIA, you took a pic of the little devils! See the tiny slugs in your second picture's upper left-hand corner. Slugs can decimate your beans in no time. It's good to get them under control from the get-go. Beer is a good bait but expensive. Here's a homemade bait, just as effective as beer, but much, much cheaper to use: WATER - wheat FLOUR - and - YEAST slurry. First make a slurry of flour and cold water. Stirr in one or two teaspoons yeast. Cover, set aside either in fridge (slow ferment) or on counter (fast ferment) for a day or so, or use some for bait immediately, and store rest in fridge. Wheat flour contains gluten, which together with water and yeast, ferments (the yeasts eat the gluten). Option: Keep a big batch in the fridge (in container with lid), stir before use. When dormant (the yeasts ate all the gluten), reactivate with water and flour. No more yeast is needed. Keep refrigerated. Keep your starter (that's what it's called when used for bread-making) active by adding water and flour occasionally. After the initial addition of yeast, no more yeast is needed, just add water and wheat flour. When you need more bait, stir the starter well, add water and flour, remove the amount you need for bait, and put the rest back in the fridge in a covered container. Everything must be clean to prevent bad bacteria from infecting your starter. Slugs apparently go mad with delight when they smell this delicious fermenting concoction. === However, for the person, who has to empty the containers full of decaying slugs, it is no delight. Gross! Please don't have kids do this chore! Cheap styrofoam cups, quarter-full of bait slurry, sunk into the ground, work ok. === Re: Monterey Sluggo: The active ingredient in Monterey Sluggo is Iron phosphate, a mined product, and the inert is wheat gluten. Monterey Sluggo is approved for organic gardening, and it is OMRI Listed, according to the manufacturer.

Hey Tinker, I am in Sarasota and will be installing soapstone from Creative also. ARe you still happy with your soapstone? I am about a mile away from Der Dutchman. I am using B&B Cabinets though on Cattlemen. ARe you happy with the shaker style cabinets? Might do a white with pewter glaze.... Thanks for any advice or comments you can share.

Help choosing picture light for large picture

There is a lot of ways to look at this, a lot has to do with how you will power it, then how much of the artwork you want to light up, the longer the fixture the more area it will cover the smaller, more of the center will be lit. NO need to go from the ceiling. Picture lights are not cheap. I would go look at the vendor House of Troy, they have specialized in this for years, if nothing else you can get a feel for the market.

Need help to identify the model based on pictures + technical help

Hi all, I need to identify my HVAC model based on pictures. Label is all wear out and unreadable. Brand is Carrier Addition help regarding to troubleshooting the issue will also be great. We recently replaced thermostat (Nest), original wasn't even working (Honeywell mercury). Heat mode is intermitting, sometimes it works sometimes it's NOT especially if set to temperature after time meaning by to keep the temperature after reaching. I hear ignition clicking but it doesn't seem like it ignites since fan never turns ON due to temperature never reaching or this is my assumption, Please let me know if more information is required, all help is greatly appreciated, Thanks!

You might also consider a good photo editing software program to help reclaim some of your photos. I brightened up your photo using a free little editor called Sherif PhotoPlus. Any Photoshop program would do much better.

Try again. Hope this picture comes thru. This site wouldn't let me upload like I did the other one.
I use Photoshop and Picture It for all my pictures. Mine is about the same as yours.
About the flash. Flashes only go about 10 feet but when i turned the flashon it must open the lense some buz when I turn it off the pictures are darker.
Anyway tonight, if it doesn't rain, I am going to try shutter priority, 1/100 with 800 ISO. MIne camera goes from 800 to 1600 and 1600 is to grainy. May also open the lighting to about +.5 or +1.0 which might help.
Now hopefully the picture comes thru from Photobucket.

See if you can see these pictures.
I took these using the shutter priority, 1/60, ISO 800 and exposure compensation set at .5. I only lightened them a little bit. ( the first 3)
Friday night I may either go to 1/50 or open my compensation to +1.0. just to see if they are any lighter and brighter.
The softball pictures were taken with my wide angle lense this summer and they are good.

lens opens up to 2.8(at least)

I can only go to 4.5, and ISO I have 800 or 1600 and 1600 too grainy. I can do a little more exposure, but I think this is the best I am going to get for night time shots and as far away as I am sitting.
These pictures were taken from 7PM to 9PM. I tried the manual setting but that didn't work for me. So thanks everyone for your help.
The uniforms were purple not blue. Just a minor detail.
