Hey all, Thanks for the comments, sorry to be so tardy in responding...I have a big event coming up in my life (professional, not personal) that at the moment is "taking all the time I got." Yes, I still haven't learned everything about my camera that there is to know. It does have a macro mode for flower close-ups, which I use. I have also noticed that bright sun wreaks havoc with the camera's ability to process color like Waimea is exhibiting. Usually, though, it handles it, no matter what the light level. This was just color overload...which is fun, and was the point of my whole post :-) ANYway... Jackie, yes, I live in South Broward, not directly on the Intracoastal, but from my boat dock you can be out in the Intracoastal in 5-10 minutes. It's a great location! Dave, can't recommend both highly enough! Stuart, Waimea's gonna have to learn to be happy in that planter. Guess that means annual root prunings... Thanks for the kind words, all! Thumbalina, I believe, is on the decline for this season, but Waimea and Kaneohe Sunburst are just gearing up, so I'll post some more photos soon! Greg

I think Photo Viewer (which I use at work) is just that, a viewer. It doesn't actually change the file, though you can use it to view photos in a different orientation than how they were taken. Here's a list of several free photo editing programs. I don't know anything about any of them, but I just did an online search for free photo editing software, and the list is an example of the what came up, so I imagine that you could find something that would work for you. Ken, by gizmo do you mean smart phone? If so, how the photo is taken and saved is just like a regular camera. If you hold the phone in landscape orientation, the photo is saved in landscape mode, and the same with portrait orientation being saved as portrait mode in the photo.

I think some terms here are being mangled, let's straighten them out. Digital files can be edit protected, copy-protected, marked as read only, etc., on PC storage media. This can be invoked for a variety of reasons. You can look at the properties of the file to see if it is turned on. Changing the attribute (in the MS PC world) usually requires a Windows Explorer session using administrator rights, a trivial thing to invoke when necessary. Or, they can be completely open and unrestricted, that's the default case. Commercially distributed files of creative works (things like movies or e- or audio books) may have digital rights management software (DRM) embedded to prevent unauthorized access, redistribution or copying. Copyright law provides that all rights to images, written works, and certain other items remain the property and under the control of the creator or, if transferred in whole, the owner of the copyright. Copyright protection applies automatically (it's a legal right) when the item is created, nothing happens to transform it and no action need be taken. ______________ I can't imagine photo images on memory device in a camera would be copy protected or if that option would ever be available, that would make no sense at all. The suggestion previously given will solve the problem.
