Oh you poor darling! How do you control yourself? I would be a screaming banshee if i had done all that work to have it all dragged out to cook in the yard. You must be a saint or something! LOL :-)---Im glad you like the sock idea. I have two dogs and both get the sock method. My oldest is a three year old Shepard mix we adopted from a shelter, her name is Mary. She will practically bring the sock to me and she always wants to go first because they get many many goodies afterward. Bribes always work :-)----Then Tigger is our little black and white boy mini schnauzer and he used to eat us up when we first got him. He just turned one in may. He did not trust us at first and if we touched him or tried to hold him he would bite us! Thank God thats over with and he is our little Velcro dogie now. Always hanging on somebody wanting to be petted. He still gets upset about getting his nails clipped but he wants the treats soooooo bad, so he is much nicer and no biting anymore just growling but thank goodness for the sock. I use an old stretched out one that the elastic is soft so as not to hurt our babies just paralyze them. HaHa Then with Mary i drape a small blankie or towel over her legs so as not to kick my eyes out because i trim them on their backs. It takes about five minutes per dog and then we have a big treat party about three treats per dog and everybody gets a new rawhide chewy afterward to go take their anxiety out on. And i keep my skin and eyes intact :) The only problem i have with Tigger now is when we go out for a potty break he tries to catch baby birds and he bite a baby robin this year and killed it. I cried. I had no idea the little bird was even in there but he knew right away and just grabbed it and shook it. It was over in an instant. I put a muzzle on him now when we go out because i dont want that to happen again. Glad Daisy doesn't hurt them thats really good just gives them a slobber bath :-) Sorry i talked your head off, I better go---------bonnie

After reading all these post on your pets, I'm crying so hard don't know if I can do this or not. Last Friday we had our horses vet come out to the house and relieve my German Shepherd Kaiser of his pain and suffering. He would have been 12 in July. He had hip-displasia and had gotten to the point that it took a lot of effort just to walk. One night last week he apparantely fell down the steps and skinned his nose very badly, and he almost would not attempt to go up and down the steps any longer. We had been putting this day off for at least a year. He was a grandchild to me, a part of me: also my shadow. I still find myself turning to tell him, "Grandma's just going outside, I'll be right back..Stay" He never did, had to go with me even if it was only for a minute. He loved the grandchildren almost as much as he loved me. If they were sitting on the floor watching television, he was sprawled out in the middle of them squeeking one of his balls. They couldn't play in the yard under the water sprinkler, because he would stand over it blocking all the water. If I got the water hose he always had to come get a drink of fresh water. After I had caught my kitchen on fire once, I had some ladies cleaning for a few days and they had been playing with him. They gathered up their cleaning supplies and placed them in boxes. My husband helped them carry the boxes out to the yard and sat them by the gate. Then when they started to pick them up to put them in their car, he just gently put his mouth on one of the ladies arms as if to say, "My grandpa put those there and you shouldn't bother them." We told him it was OK and he released her arm. My son who is in his 40's likes to play pranks on everyone and one day Kaiser was asleep on the porch with his head resting between the bannisters. Kevin sneaked up to him and shook him and said "Whatcha Doing"!! Kaiser came to life with teeth bared and made a believer out of Kevin. He had to jump the bannister and landed about 6 feet out in the yard to keep from getting eaten alive, until Kaiser realized who it was. Needless to say Kevin didn't try that again. Kaiser's daddy was imported from Germany and was a Narcotic Dog with the Grand Rapid Mi Police Dept. Now they are together somewhere "Over The Rainbow" along with Jett one of his litter mates who belonged to Kevin and his family. Now he and Jett are bouncing around there with no hip pain at all, waitin for Grandma to come home. Glenda

pecanpie, I love your story about informing the loud store you'd be taking your VISA elsewhere! My DD thinks she is the only teen suffering in this way..... This is her "favorite" embarrassment: I called ahead (hey, I'm not new to teen-shopping-heck) to ask if a certain huge sportings goods store had basketball shorts and shoes for my daughter with a size 8 foot (BTW, is this still THE most common woman's foot size???!!) at the start of basketball season. I was told, oh yes, lots. We walk in, ask for help, & the young man immediately explains that we really "want" men's clothing and shoes, all the "girls" do, and that's all they have. Well, I clarified: "So you only have clothing and shoes for people with penuses?" This is when my DD & gal pal disappeared in a puff of smoke, oddly. Yes, I complained to the manager -- a real woman (not a "girl," mind you) who was horrified at the young man's comments, and assured me that this would be addressed immediately and was wrong for oh-so-many reasons. So now my daughter reminds me "no penus comments" when I take her shopping and I remind her "well then they better have women's clothing and equipment when we get there..." So we have an understanding. And I can only imagine how riled up she'll get defending her own daughter's right to be clothed for sports in the future, should title nine remain viable..... Like pecanpie, I remind folks all the time when I'm out shopping that I want to see what I'm buying & I don't care to be insulted with music or anti-woman politics while spending large sums of cash. Or small sums, for that matter. I'm raising a woman here.
