Thanks terrene, We provide a lot of supplements to their ample insect diet... mealworms, suet nuggets, raisins, and scrambled egg. They eat all of these food sources daily and they are all vital and healthy birds. We also help to eliminate all the major safety hazards with safe housing, and (mostly passive) predator control. Missy and Mr.B have successfully fledged 41 baby blues so far over 3 seasons, and we only know of 1 lost to the wild. She is about finished building her 3rd nest of the 2010 season (her 9th) in our box. They currently have 11 fledglings in the trees, and we are on egg-watch for the 3rd nest as I write this. It's hard not to be proud of this precious and prolific pair. But we know they are not our birds... we are just happy to be their people. I like the New Venitian Gold. I too have to keep my outdated oak cabinets. But with the Persian Brown granite I selected, they will look fine. We are in the middle of our remodel. This site has been invaluable. Budget is probably the most important consideration for most. Keep things in perspective. Good luck and post after pictures.

Pretty sure I don't have voice recording. My one camera, is a Canon A650IS which is a couple of years old. Its been described in reviews as a Canon G7 minus frills. I like the 12 megapixels in it, and size. 6 x zoom. Lately, I use a Canon SX10 IS, with 20 x zoom. Also no voice recording. Would be a nifty feature though. The most important part for me seems to know when I left one grove and am in another. What I do sometimes, is take an image of my palm in-between to indicate the transition, or a note on a note card. But I can see where the voice option would be very streamlined. Seems like most manufacturers have really worked the bugs out of most cameras these days.
