One idea that comes to mind is to run 2X4s parallel to each other, say 4 of them 18 inches apart to form 3 rows each 18 inches wide. Use the 2X8s to form a bench like brace shaped like an upside down U on each end so that the 2X4s are suported on the ends by the strong 2X8s. If you run the 2X4s setting on the 2 inch side (on the narrow side) you could drape heavy plastic tarp over the 2X4s to form three 12 inch deep troughs that you can fill up with potting mix. The end braces might actually be set at six foot spacing so that the 2X4s extend out 2 foot on each end. You can make the legs 4 feet long and bury 1 foot in the ground to make the over-all height 3 foot high, an easy height to work with. To make the end braces, I would cut the legs 4 foot long each and the cross piece would need to be 3X18= 54" long. Actually, the legs could be 4X4s, or even landscape tembers which are a lot cheaper. (return the expensive 2X8s for credit) Use a stapeler to attach the plastic tarp to the 2X4s that form the troughs. Use some heavy duty clear plastic over the plastic tarp material, and the fill with the potting mis. Well, if you are having any trouble invisioning the idea, I just happen to have some pictures that might help because I built a simular setup several years ago and had good success with it. It you care to, just click on the link below and see if you care to give it a try. Good luck and have fun, chuck Here is a link that might be useful: trough garden

Thanks for the compliments. I get them from walkers on the bike path too which is nice :) I found SFG because I was looking for a way to have a neater garden since it is near the bike path, and it has worked great. Riff, my daughter picked out all the veggies for her garden. I told her that way she can eat anything she wants out of it and didn't have to ask :) I do most of the weeding, but she is only 6. The fence was put up out of necessity, it deters the neighbors dogs a bit. Monika, I think I got the trellises at Menard's, but it could have been Lowe's. Click on the link at the bottom of my post, there are a few more pictures closer up.

I like the second one. It's more architecturally pleasing to the eye with the tile setting on the diagonal on the upper part of the wall and squared on the bottom. :) You may also want to consider using a large "metal looking" (kinkd of bronzy) tile for the center vs. the little onyx tiles. I saw it done in a Parade of Homes house and really liked it as it gave a little extra flair and focuses your attention on the detail with the decorative framing you've done. I looked, but couldn't find my photo of that particular shower, but I found 2 similar ones. Unfortunately, I couldn't get them to upload. If you'll send me your email, I'd be happy to send them directly to you. Another idea I saw was to have your cabinet guy build a decorative shelf for the area between the tub deck and the shower wall. You can then use it for a TV, stereo, towels, bubble bath and/or just pretty things to decorate the room. In the pic of your neighbor's bath that area seems to be a "dead space". I really like the way they used the tub deck extension to make the seat in the shower, however. That's really neat! Good luck tomorrow!
