Jelwell, usually about $1 per 20 sq ft. but this highly varies according to the homeowner. Some are content with just having the area maintained, while others like to milk it for what it's worth. I was rather desperate in the spring to obtain sufficient land to make this worthwhile, so in some cases I paid more than I should have.

Keep mulching everything..the voles love it. Predators can't find them. this is the time of year(back to school) when you can find all sorts and shapes of metal mesh trashcans. They are wonderful for planting in areas that have voles. Cut out some hardware cloth and after planting, wire the hardware cloth around the plant and connect it to the trashcan mesh. Get as wide cans as you can find so your plant will have room to grow a strong root system. Also good for plants and perennials that you want to dig up to store for the winter. If you leave 2-3" of the top of the trashcan it's easier to pull out of the ground.

Why would they have had an inspector and a geologist check out the property prior to purchase? If the cliff was 80 feet from the house initially, why even consider a geologist? Who'd consider that initially? Maybe if they started to get cracks in the walls, but not pre-purchase. I've heard of just far too many landslide issues where the owners never had that inspection done prior to purchase. The news reports in the link said the owner just walked up to the house and made an offer on the place. Also said that the insurance co denied the land movement claim so they were going to make another claim based on fire damage. Oh yeah, like THAT claim would be paid!

While there may have been crab grass and dandelions and other miscellaneous weeds mixed into our grass...we have nothing but dirt..and dried up browning/ yellowing grass. Any recommendations? The some one is now compulsively researching moss strains to add some green back into our yard. Alot of the front yard is mostly shaded and gets limited sunlight. I've contemplated purchasing an RV and parking it on the lawn. I've also contemplated planting a bamboo forest to shield the yard from neighbor's view. I've also contemplated spray painting the remains of the grass carcasses a slight green color to see if that may help. Kidding aside, I'm pondering options that will allow us to try to restore the grass in the fall, I'm not sure how this will work. The someone contacted the manufacturer of the Casoron 4g pre emergent and they said it would take 6-8 months before anything could possibly grow again that the heat from the summer weather will break down the chemicals. Nothing will work unless we go ahead and pile on 3-4 inches of dirt and then try to seed that. Guidance appreciated. I'm worried about trying to get the soil healthy again, and any way to reduce erosion of existing soil. We live in a suburb of Washington D.C. Thanks!

Some real neat photos. Just a thought though, something in the foreground would add depth, especially in #3. Were these the way they came out of the camera or after Adobe? Either way, they are good shots. The reflections in the rippled water add life to a serene subject.

Thanks, Linda...please do post yours, I'm still learning a great deal on this camera, I think maybe the time of day had alot to with the way they came out...
and 'Thank you', Kt!
And thank you GTF...I don't have adobe...but I did use Vivid in picture control on my camera, before taking photos and did little basic editing after downloading. I think the vivid really helped alot for the fall colors!

Very pretty, Juanita!

I love trees reflecting in the water.
Here, the leafs are mostly gone now, some weeks ago when traveling up northern Alberta, near Fort Mc Murray, took some shots in a resting area.

I think I could use that resting area at times. A beauty for sure. That cloud reflecting in #1 adds.

Those are all beautiful fall shots. My favorite time of year. My mother used to sing a song to me when I was little. These remind me of it.
Come little leaves said the wind one day.
Come over the meadow with me and play.
Put on your dresses of red and gold.
Summer is gone and the days grow cold.
Soon the little leaves heard the winds loud call
Down they come fluttering one and all.
Over the brown fields they danced and flew
Singing this gay little song they knew.
Winter is coming yo ho,yo ho winter is coming
with ice and snow.
Soon fast asleep in their earthly beds
The snow laid a white blanket over their heads.
