Joann, we are snowbirds. this is our fourth season here. We love it here, if the family wasn't 1,500 miles away, we'd probably move here full-time!

Buck's Winter Sunset

Hi Nancy, I'm glad you were able to ID your rose! In my experience the blooms will fade/blow pretty quickly in full sun/high heat. (Our temps are generally mild & mine is not even in full sun.) It is very disease resistant, no spray, and the flowers last reasonably well cut for the vase. Winter Sunset has a good fruity fragrance and HT blooms on a more shrubby plant. I grow it for these reasons. It is such a pleasure to have a nicely foliated, easy care bush. I remember your photo from your ID thread and just wanted to reassure you that it is not a floppy spreader, it's very mannerly. Upright slightly vase shaped, maybe 4 x 2.5 here after 6 years. For what it's worth, when I visited the Heirloom display garden, a staff person there said they felt it was Buck's best apricot- at least for our climate-which of course is much different than yours. Gorgeous shots! What sort of settings does "Sunset" give you?

It seems to speed up the shutter, which makes it more dramatic.

I went to school in Deland and this sort of makes me homesick....I have spent many wonderful hours in the National Forest....in fact, a LOT of years ago, I went to 4-H and Girl Scout camps there.
Thanks a bunch for sending!

Jaybird, my parents lived in Deland for 30 years. Did you go to Stetson? Beautiful town. My parents have been gone since the mid-90s, and I haven't been there since 1996. I miss it. I've kept in touch with their neighbors, but only one is left now.

Joan, I'll have to check into that setting, which my camera doesn't have. It doesn't appear to open your aperture, or you wouldn't have the crisp focus that you have. It probably allows for less light, more drama. Beautiful!

I lived on the Pacific Coast for a number of years. I loved to sit on the beach until the sun sat. Just gorgeous over water.

When I went to Destin, Florida I sat on the beach waiting for the sun to set. LOL! I forgot it sets in the West, behind a high rise. How stupid am I.
