This one was taken in Wheeler, Oregon a few years ago. People were pulling over to take this picture. One kid took a picture of it reflected on the side of his freshly washed car. I should have done that too, but I had been on the road for a few days and my car needed washing. I thought it was a good idea though. Mike

what is creating the dappled shade.. if its a large maple.. you may have a hard time .. yada.. yada ... just do it ... its near impossible.. for any of us.. to predict.. with any certainty.. based on anything short of actually living there.. as to the tolerance of any plant in a given sun location ... in other words.. words alone is enough information ... lack of full sun.. will only do one thing [all other things proper] ... it MIGHT slow the predicted annual growth rate ... it will not.. kill a plant .... usually ... i have two picea pungens.. blue spruce.. globosa types.. in absolute full shade ... 10 years later.. they should be two or three times larger than they are.. and thicker.. but they are not dead ... nor dying ... is this planned for proper planting time.. or are you going to continue to buck tradition.. and plant in july/august??? ken

Hi Ken! Raspberries to you, Joan, for rubbing in our TEMP! LOL Everyday like this - we hope it is the last one for the season. Tomorrow should be much better. Spring is only a month away! Joan, your pictures are beautiful -- But, that first one almost looks like the sun reflecting on snow (that nasty four-letter-word!) Some people we know at our church, just came home last night from Orlando, where it was 85*. At home here it was -20*. That is a 100 degree difference! That's enough to shock a body! LOL

Hi Joan, Wow! This is a beautiful silhouette photo! The crabapples have very sharp edge definition, along with shallow depth-of-field, so that the sunset background allows for interesting 'painter's backdrop' color variation, but not so clear that it distracts fromthe main show - the silhouette! You also exposed this properly so that the crabapples are perfectly black and the sky pops with a rainbow of color. Well done!
