It makes a beautiful tree with its red bark and silvery leaves, and is drouth and salt tolerant and produces its own nitrogen. The reason you saw it out there is because of the drouth tolerance--it is one of the few that can be planted in lower rainfall zones and survive as an unwatered windbreak. Depending where you are at, it is a cherished tree or a noxious weed. It has a habit of spreading in riparian areas in the west and forming a super dense invasion, choking out natives and making an impassible monoculture. It also has thorns. But, as a specimen tree and pruned up well, it will get to 40' or more and is really beautiful. Plus the seeds are sought after by an abundance of wildlife.

Re Mike: You might be mixing me up with âÂÂTigerâÂÂ; IâÂÂll take that as a compliment. âÂÂThis an elaborate system to heat water.â An elaborate system to inexpensively heat water and heat/air-condition your home. This will be about the most expensive way to go up front but the life cycle and operating costs are extremely low by comparison when executed properly. Think about it this way, per equal volume, water delivery is 3,500 times more efficient than force air delivery and the HP will have a COP of about 4 irrespective of outdoor conditions. In the case of the OP, their entire distribution system can be kept as is if in good repair, no money spent on tearing it out and replacement. Given the size of the property, perhaps a horizontal ground loop might be possible for less than the cost of vertical drilling. When they complete their new addition another zone can be added to the existing geo HP system for VERY little money. It would hardly be more than another manifold and either a pump or zone valve plumbed into the existing buffer tank (see linked manual again). Water heated to about 120F instead of 140F with free DHW when in A/C mode. You always have to look at the total cost differential between conventional and geo, including rebates & tax credits, along with life cycle and energy costs. If gas isnâÂÂt used as an alternate backup fuel, the cost of installing the gas line could be put into the ground loop. In the end everyone does what they perceive is best for them. Were the installation manual plumbing schematics clear and helpful? IMO SR

The application rates. It is an insecticide. I don't know what health or environmental risks may/are associated with it, but recommended application rates should always be followed unless you know something to the contrary than the manufacturer hasn't stated. Do not apply more than 200 lb of TCS GROWSTAR ALLEC TUS ® 0.225 G Plus Turf Fertilizer Insecticide (0.25 lb of imidacloprid, 0.2 lb bifenthrin) per acre per application on residential use sites (i.e., around private homes, apartment buildings, condominiums, non-agricultural outbuildings, non-commercial greenhouses, pre-scho ols or day care facilities). May be applied at up to 400 l b of TCS GROWSTAR ALLECTUS ® 0.225 G Plus Turf Fertilizer Insecticide (0.5 lb of imidacloprid, 0.4 lb bifenthrin) per application on non-residential use sites (i.e., around institutional, public, commercial or industr ial buildings; parks; recreational areas or athleti c fields). Do not apply when turfgrass areas are waterlogged o r the soil is saturated with water. Adequate distr ibution of the active ingredient cannot be achieved when these conditions exist. The treated turf must be in suc h a condition that the rainfall or irrigation will pene trate vertically in the soil profile. Total amount applied cannot exceed 400 lb (0.5 lb of imidacloprid, 0.4 lb of bi fenthrin) per acre per year. You are proposing to apply more than one and a half times the maximum annual rate in one dose.
