Hola Crap! Very nice and healthy looking. Extremely trappy. Good works! My own VFT, which I believe to be a dente-green is trapping like crazy, but not as nicely as yours. Its also not shown the slightest hint of wanting to have any red pigment, even though it gets 5 hours of direct sun, 5 hours of indirect sun, and then an additional 4 to 6 of strong lamp light. I was furious last night, as a green fly and cohort managed to trick 4 of the large traps into closing. One of them got a nice lunch, but I personally hunted the fly down with a rolled up shirt and spray bottle. I sent him to 'swim with the roots', as I buried him alive in the sphagnum. No one screws with my plants. ;)

I've still got at least one juvie up here, just saw him. I had probably 12-16 hummers fighting over my feeders two weeks ago. Now that the buckets of rain have stopped I'd expect to hear them squabbling if they were still here, but it's quiet. The adult male that guarded "his" window feeder hasn't been sighted for a week. I bet those of you south of me will be seeing some travelers soon. They will be looking for "pit stops" on the way so please keep at least one feeder up! I've got six of the mini single-port feeders and plan to keep at least one out until the end of the month.

Hello! I'm in Enumclaw, WA (southeast of Seattle) and I've also got one little fella that's still here. The feeder is in a tree right outside my office window, and he's been coming and feeding for the past 6 months. When I saw him today, trying to feed - I was shocked! The nectar was frozen as our temp here is 16 degrees, with about a foot of snow from last night's storm. I filled the feeder with warmish water, and hung out where it would get more sun. I will try the idea of wrapping with bubble wrap tomorrow. Not sure why he's all alone, but sure want to help him survive. Is there some kind of shelter that could be built?

Oh wow you guys thanks for all the ideas! Moses I'm not good about planning ahead, I should probably try it sometime so my yard doesn't look so cracked out :). Mad, you are right about the bench - I think one that's comfy would be bigger and sit in front. I remember April's post - been in the back of my head, I just loved the look of it and would love to have my yard look even half so nice. Summer I love the idea of the posts. One of my challenges is planting strategically to avoid the dogs trampling things, the posts would be great.
